I have a 93 Dodge Dakota that will run fine for a short time (1 mile or so), then if I come to a stop and begin to accelerate the engine will miss badly and almost shut off. I first noticed the problem on the higway when I had a sudden loss of power and couldnt get back over 55 mph. Since I have replaced fuel filter, sparkplugs, wires, dist. cap, and rotor, but it is still doing the same thing. Also, it idles perfectly in park, and I can bring it up to 3-4000 RPM and hold it there without the engine missing at all. It seems the problem starts only when engaged in drive. I would really appreciate any info. Thanks.

ME TOO!! Mine dies at 55 mph, can't get back over 1500 RPM. Once you come to a stop, it will recover and you can drive about another 10 miles.

CHECK THE FUEL PUMP FIRST ,THEN FOLLOW THE LINES THERE MIGHT BE A PIN HOLE CAUSEING IT TO SUCK AIR UNDER A LOAD ,CAUSEING IT TO WANT TO DIE OUT,IF THAT DON'T WORK TRY CLEANING OUT THE FUEL INJECTION ,YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF ,BUT IT IS EASIER IF YOU GO AND GET IT DONE BY A EXPERT ,COST AROUND $69 UP HERE ,IF THAT DON'T WORK CHECK YOUR PICK UP COIL IN THE DISTRIBUTER ,GOOD LUCK MOPAR RULES

i have a 92 3.9 auto with 56k on it. it will back fire and stall at 1500rpm. if i floor it for a few seconds it takes off.if ran hard for 15 minutes it is fine. thought it was a clog cat butit wasnt. changed coil, cap, button, crank sensor.dont understand how it will eventually fix it self and run perfectafter 15min of not going 5mph down the street.

Mine did this too. I replaced the EGR sensor and it seems to be running fine. Hope this helps.
