If it was the same problem I had it would be the start control module. My truck would do a bunch of starts and then turn the key, then nothing!]

I have a 2004 caravan and tonight (Cold night) I drove 30 minutes on highway. Stopped for 2 hours, got back in and Van would not start. Seemed dead battery, clicking noise, guages went crazy while cranking and internal lights where very dim. Left van and got a ride, returned 10 and a half hours latter to boost and Bam, started on its own. Whats going on ?

I am not a machanic, but I just test drove a Dodge with almst same problem about starting. I was told that the throttle body needed to be cleaned. The vehicle has a low idle set, where it would not start. After the machanic cleaned the throttle body, the vehicle ran like charm, and started great.

Good Evening
I am experiencing on a intermitten basis that my 2005 Dodge Caravan won't start.
I already took it to my local dealer and they weren't able to identify the problem.
To date, this problem still exists and I was wondering if any of you have had the same problem and if you found out the cause of it.
Please share.
I too have had the same starting problems with my 2005 Dodge Caravan SXT. I took my Caravan back to the dealer but they could not find anything wrong.
After some trial and error, I found that if I carry both of my keys with me when I'm driving I have no starting problems. Unfortunately, every time I went out in my Caravan with just one key, I got stranded. Weird though as it sounds, as long as I carry both of my keys with me I have never had another starting problem. I went back to the dealer and told them what I had found but they still could not explain why this was happening. Two years with no problems, until last week. I had to run a few errands and was in a hurry. I didn't remember to get my second key when I started out, and guess what? I got stranded and had to call and get someone to go by my home and get my second key. As soon as my second key arrived, I put the key in the ignition and started the van with no problem at all.

I hope this helps.

Help! anyone found out yet about starting problems know one seems to know? Replaced all column ignition stuff, starter, and past $700.00 now still dies after driving a while. Starts next day sometimes. I ride more in the tow truck then the car now. NEVER ANOTHER DODGE!

What I observe with my 03 Grand Caravan is when it has been parked for 5 hour or more. The first time I try to start, it won't. The second time and it starts. Otherwise if I had used it less than 5 hours ago, it start without any problems the first time I crank it. Probably not really a big issue since it does start, but it is anoying.

I read the manual and it says, if after three seconds of turning the key the engine does not start, depress the gas pedal slightly (give it a little gas). I tried this, sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Either way, the second time I crank the engine, it starts.

I'm going to try a couple of suggestions given above. The one about waiting for the dash lights to turn on and carrying/using the other key. I will give feedback.

I have an 05 Caravan Special Edition, and today my power locks stopped working. Nothing else wrong, just the locks. The buttons on the doors don't work, and neither does the wireless keyfob. However, if you press the wireless 'lock' button, the lights and horn go off like they would if the locks were working. Haven't tried any of the fuse fixes yet - I'm still under warranty, so I'll see what the dealer says.

I have an 05 Caravan SXT. I had it in for brake issues in December of 06. It always pulled to the left when I stopped. They replaced the brake pads...in 3 months and 3000 miles they just began scraping metal to the rotor. Can't wait to hear the BS excuses at the dealer in the morning when I call. I already have a complaint into corporate. I find it hard to believe that brake shoes were even put in. I don't ride the brakes and drive rather conservatively.

05 Grand Caravan, remote door locks do not work had dealership reset computer worked for about 6 hours then stopped working again. I think it is the remote module.($400.00) this is the same module at controls the power windows. Does anyone else know what else it controls?

I have a 2005 Grand Caravan, 3.8L (60k miles). I have a check engine light and the scan indicates misfiring in #4 & #1 cylinders. I had the car serviced and a tune up done (all new wires and plugs). the engine light went out for a day or so and then it came back with a misfire in cylinder #4 and took it back to the service station. They could not fined what is wrong.

Also, the whole time I have had this check engine problem the van has been cold starting. It takes 4-6 seconds before the van would start. If I turn the engine off and it is still warm it will start normally...but if it sits more than 15 minutes and cool down a bit it will cold start.

Does anyone have any ideas? It would be greatly appreciated.

i have an 03 grand caravan and i have a major problem with it but its intermittent
when the van hits 20mph the doors lock (not the problem) then the headlights flash the guages shut down the radio either turns up or down the wipers turn on and the door locks try and lock repeatedly
when all that happens and you shut off the van and open the doors the rear wiper and the interior lights turn on and off rapidly
i looked through a repair manual and i have an idea but im not sure if it will fix the problem does anybody have an idea?

I have some weird electrical issues as well with my 2005 Dodge Caravan. As I'm driving I suddenly lose power for a few seconds. The speakers make a popping noise and the radio goes off, the door ding starts dinging and then suddenly all is restored as though it never happened. Of course the dealership cannot duplicate the issue so I have no codes, I dont get any kind of check engine lights or any other lights on the dash, only the typical as though I shut the van off and then started it again. Any suggestions would be great, otherwise, I suggest a trade-in. LOL. After seeing all the other postings, at least I know I'm not crazy....LOL....Thanks

I have a 2005 caravan that also has to have the gas pedal put to the floor to get it started sometimes. also if I go to a car wash and stop the engine - wash it -and try to restart it, same thing - I don't know if something can get wet that is not duplicated while driving through rain? this has happened 3 times while at car wash and dealer said that they cannot figure out what is going on.

I am having a problem with my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. The power door locks quit working as well as the key fob. I can't lock or unlock any doors with the power door lock button in the vehicle without doing it manually. The key fob will unlock the lift gate, but not any other doors. The problem will last anywhere from a few hours to weeks at a time. I noticed a few other people are having the same problem as well. If anyone has found out what the problem is, can you please help me? Please reply here or send an email to [email protected] From reading about all of the problems with Dodge, I think they need to get their act together.
