Good Evening
I am experiencing on a intermitten basis that my 2005 Dodge Caravan won't start.
I already took it to my local dealer and they weren't able to identify the problem.
To date, this problem still exists and I was wondering if any of you have had the same problem and if you found out the cause of it.
Please share.

I just sent my 2006 SXT 3.8 back to the dealer via towtruck because it would not start after stopping to pick up a sandwich. Everything worked but it would not turn over. It happened exactly 2 weeks ago in similar circumstances except I stopped to pick up a tool. In that case it started after sitting for about 40 min.

Just acquired '03: Second week, key would not turn in ignition despite multiple tries, then suddenly, "no problem". Today, stranded in parking lot: key turns, all electrical functions, no response whatever from starter - no clicks, no noise, no nothing. Car is now towed to shop. What's going on here?

You bought a Crapsler. That is what's going on here.

I have 2003 Caravan, and ditto Tom from Dallas above. One local garage has looked for 2 days and given up. Need to tow it again it the dealer. Thoughts? Bad computer?

I have a 2006 Dodge Caravan and had the same problem last week. 1st time. Car carnked but would not start until I tried many times in a row and finally it turned over and was very sluggish with the engine light staying on for a bit. Drove it to the dealer, and at that point everything was fine and they could not find any problems???

I am experiencing the same thing at the moment and was wondering if they found a solution. I can not start my 05 dodge caravan one day last week, I had to pump the gas several times before I could get it turned over and when it finally did it stopped again. I had to repeat the process and reved it up and able to finally get it going. This occurs only occassionally and had it in for service and they can not duplicate the problem so they can't fix it. I have into another dealer service shop today and still the same.

I just had the same problem again second time this past Sat. I am taking the car back to the dealer this week. We'll see what they can come up with. Based on other comments that I have seen here, I hold no great hopes. Frustrated wrote: <quoted text> I am experiencing the same thing at the moment and was wondering if they found a solution. I have an intermittent electical failre. Luckily I have not had the starter problems you all are talking about, but my power door locks and power doors periodically just stop working. this will go on until you leave the van parked for at least 40 minutes. The problem is I can't ever get it to do its thing for the dealer! They won't put parts in it becuase the factory charges them if the old removed part tests good.

I have a 2002 Caravan that's also having a starting problem. At first I thought it might be something with the fuel system, because it sounded like it wasn't getting gas. I took it to a local mechanic, and he discovered that when starting, all of the light (engine, oil, brake, abs, etc.) didn't come on right away. He told me that if I turn the ignition to the on position, and wait until all of the lights appear, and the abs lights comes on and goes off, then the car will start.
The car will now start using that process. It seems that the problem is with the electrical/computer system.

I'm having weird electrical problems with my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan that my dealer can't fix either. Random Symptoms: -Engine and all electrity turns off while driving 5-20 mph. Never seems to happen while going faster (thank goodness). -Sometimes when van decides to shutdown while moving, all dashboard guages, symmetrically, go to the far right (so it looks like I'm doing 120 mph when the car is slowing down). -Go out to turn on car in the morning, and it is electrically dead. Nothing works, won't turn on, door locks won't work. Wait 30 seconds, everything works great. -Go out to car, remotely open side door, door opens up 3/4th the way, then car goes dead. Won't start or do anything for about 30 seconds, then everything works great. Dealer can't replicate. No error codes. What a pain.

We have a 2001 town and country (chrystler but they're the same engins) and we've been having the same starter problems as you all. We've tried turning the ignition half way, wait a few seconds and then turn it on, that worked for a while and not anymore. A mechanic friend told us to bang on the starter and that would get the car to start, it did for a while. The weird thing is, somedays there's no problem what so ever. You get in, turn it on and it starts. Unlike this morning (and it's cold this morning) I turn it, all the guages work, the lights work, the radio works and nothing. I did notice the letter P in in the digital mileage guage when I tried turning it over, don't know what that means. Anyway....Help.

Have a 03 Grand Caravan -- have full power (battery tests as fine) but vehicle will not start.. Starter seems fine and Mechanic feels problem source is coming from the Computer and the Ground Supply but has yet to determine the exact source of the problem.. Any idea if electrical issues are covered under warranty if at 75000. Dont really want to trust dealer's opinion on warranty.. ?? Comments

Dodge Grand Caravan 2003. Same starting trouble as described by others above. Was stranded in a parking lot at 6 pm in the cold night, waiting for a cab to pick up my son from day care. What a pain! If there is any solution to startup problem, please post. Thanks

I have a 2005 Dodge Caravan and I'm having electrical problems with it as well. Sometimes the CD player eats the CD and won't release it and now my power door-locks won't work, just happened suddenly and no one knows why. I was hoping it was just a fuse thing but I guess it's not.I am going to contact Dodge about these ongoing problems. I think if everyone did it might get them to look into it?

I'm trying to help a friend who has a similar problem with a 92 Caravan. I guess Chrysler is in no hurry to fix this design.
She has had hers more than a decade and experienced inexplicable stalls while driving and sometimes, especially when it is cold out (i.e. Canadian prairies winter) it will crank over but just not start if it is left parked outside - sometimes overnight, sometimes only for a few minutes.
When the vehicle is towed to a repair shop they bring it inside and let it warm up before trying to diagnose, and then report that they are unable to replicate the problem.

I have recently been having starting problems with my 2002 dodge caravan as well. It would start then die a second and a half later..It would do this 2-3 times then nothing at all. I thought disconecting the cables would reset the computer but that didn't work...after a couple hours it would run just fine but then seem to have the same problem...and this wouldn't happen everyday either. Anyway I finaly called the chrysler service department (after messing around with the starter) and the tech asked if i was using the same keys all the time. He said that if you have made any keys off the original there is a built in security thing that will kill the engine... I was using a key that didn't have that thick plastic rubber end. I immediately tried the original key and it started right up...tried the other key and had problems...so maybe the issue could be in the security. This problem would only happen to my wife..but I was the one with the original and never had any problems with it. I find it crazy to be just a key...but that seems to be my issue for now.

I had a 2003 Dakota and my truck was towed to the garage 4 times, it turned out it was a cracked pin on the start control module. Food for thought
