The expense of high tech

I have a 2008 Grand Caravan SE which I like quite a lot. But it sure gets frustrating when something goes wrong that didn't exist to go wrong on my 99 Caravan. The electonic key would not communicate with the starter motor, and it cost $750 to replace a part of the computer that was non-existent on my 99. For a long time, I've been getting a Gascap message, and I have even got the engine lights occasionally coming on because of the gas cap not being tight enough (my mechanic says.) But the dealer says bring it in and we'll do our own diagnostic (It's only $104,) and see if that's really your trouble before we sell you a gas cap (at some ridiculous price.)I though the last one was bad about repairs all costing over $300, but this one has found more was to drain the wallet than the other one ever had.
