Did you find out the problem to this. We can drive our van somewhere. Park it. Come back an hour later. Go to start lights come on but that's it. Try couple more times and it will start. Sometimes you have to wait 15 or 20 min. Happens once every 2 - 4 weeks

I'm getting the same error code. My mechanic brother told me, based on my description of what is going on when I try to start it, that the culprit is likely the starter. I've got to have my van towed to the shop (not my brother's -- his shop is over 3 hrs away), so that's going to increase the bill by at least $100. Lovely.

i took it to the dealer and i thought it was the transmission range sensor because it would tell me i was in Drive when i was in Reverse. But they diagnosed it and found it was a loose ground wire. They told me it was the same ground wire to the starter as the transmission range sensor...
I have been driving for several weeks now with no issues

I was able to get mine started and drove it up to the shop. I had a rebuilt starter put on and a blower motor installed (my heat/ac fan quit blowing on anything but low, about 6 months ago, had already replaced the relay switch, but it burned out again) and the total bill was under $250.

I have a 2002 Dodge grand Caravan with the same problem. Sometimes it starts fine, other times I turn the key and either nothing at first or just a click. Then after a couple minutes and a couple more start attempts, it works. I've tried a different key, waiting for all the dash lights to go out, new battery was the first thing I replaced, all no help. Tested the starter relay per ALLDATAdiy.com procedure, checks out OK. Not sure what to try next.

I was told when you turn the ignition on and off three times and get "donE" instead of mileage on the odometer it just means the system did a "self test" and found nothing wrong. Evidentally, if it found something wrong a different code would come up.
Check your solenoid wire (on the solonoid) and make sure the nut is tight. It could be a loose connection somewhere. I loosened mine and tightened it again to give it a fresh connection and so far so good. But who knows.

I have a 2002 Dodge Caravan Sport, it has similar issues. Sometimes when trying to start, it turns over 2-3 times, then I wait 5-10 seconds and try again and it starts, but the check engine lights come on and stay on for a while 1hr to 2 days and then goes off by itself. Dealership says its an intermittent issue, they check starter, replaces o2 sensor, replaced ground wires, and the issue continue over the weekend. Called them back and I dropped it off for third time this morning. Hopefully they find the issue, I will post when and if they find the problem......Dealership has been wonderful, Marty Cancila Dodge in St. Louis, MO on Lindbergh Blvd. They havent charged me for repeat visits or new parts and they put me in a free rental while they try to figure out the problem. I have no complaints about their customer service, I just hope the van issue comes up while they have so that the computer will display the code......

Sure glad to read all these post and now I know, I am not the only one with this problem. I agree with all of you. I have been having this problem for about 6 months now. Now rhyme or reason to it starting just fine for many starts in a row and then all of a sudden, try to leave for work in the morning, and it won't start. After several tries to turn the engine over, eventually it fires and I am good for a while. Only code I get is DONE as well. Weird. Glad it starts eventually, hope with winter coming here in the great state of Michigan, it will continue to start......eventually.

Have 02 gc sport with same problem. Have discovered that the red dot is for the alarm system if so equipped. I have gotten ours to start with some reliability by putting pressure on the wires that lead to the key transponder box. Back probed and did not find any issues it just seems to work. Until now. Wired in a new plug but back to same issues as before. You turn key to run and wait for red light to go out and it will start, most of the time. You turn key to run wait for light to go out and disconnect connector and light comes on and you get a no start condition. My bet is that box is not reading the key and not allowing van to start. Might be weak signal. Gonna try getting another key made at hardware store while holding original key next to transponder. Will let ya know what I find out.

So, we just got our van, a 2005 grand caravan, and it does exactly as everyone has mentioned. Random moments of no start and done message. Bc it was purchased this way and we caught it early the dealership has been doing repairs for free. In 2.5 months they have replaced the battery, solenoid(sp?), starter and then just today he said he put his "best guy on it" and they found some sort of horn malfunction that was somehow causing trouble with the ignition wires...or something to that effect. Anyway so they removed that and once again say we are good to go. We'll see :/
I guess atleast I'm lucky enough to not have had to pay out of pocket for this. I just sounds like a malfunction of some sort with this vehicle. But whats weird to me is we all have such range in the year of our models. Maybe dodge needs to be made aware of the problem?
starts half the time

HI, another one...
2002 dodge caravan sport - won't start sometimes..no sound just won't start...when i turn it a few times without starting it reads "done" as well...apparently there are no problems showing up on the codes. Eventually SO FAR it starts. We need our van to always work so wht should we do? there was corrosion on the battery..cleaned it...problem continues.
Once it starts it runs GREAT.
It seems like a possible solenoid or starter problem but $$$$ don't want to spend the money for nothing. I don;t want to start replacing things that won't fix it.
I cannot afford the dealership.
Also, AC leak that cannot be found...i guess that is for another forum though!
If anyone has any idea i would love to know.

Morgan,
I read your post about your van. We have the exact same problem with our 02 grand carvan sport. It starts about half of the time. It just will not start and after a few tries it will. Then it runs fine. I know one day soon it won't start anymore and I do not want to be stranded somewhere.
I was wondering if your dealership ever figured out the problem? I was thinking if they did, I might try the same fix with mine.
Thanks!

This all sounds like the win control unit is not reading the key anymore. Your keys could be worn out and need to be reprogrammed and or new ones made to get the contact it needs to turn or open the contact for the motor to start. Dealership or Ebay to buy this.
