2005 Caravan headlight problem

Am having the same problem with 05 Grand Caravan. I took the switch out and had no luck with the nub fix that was described earlier. I did however encounter a oddity, when I disconnected the wire harness that has the three wires in it, my headlights turned on. They now turn on and off with the ignition,(had to turn the car off and back on to get it to work the first time) even thought the wire harness is completely unplugged from the switch. Just food for thought

I also have a 2005 Dodge Caravan and I am having the same problem with the lights flickering on and off by themselves when you have them in the "on" position. I googled my problem and this is the website I found. I will have my husband and son take the advice given in recent posts to try and fix the problem. Luckily we don't often go anywhere in the evening when we really need to use the lights! Thanks for all of the comments at least I know I am not alone with this problem!

I contacted the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)and filled out a complaint. Within a few days, someone from the office contacted me to get further information. They are working on the issue, but it will help if they continue to receive complaints. I urge you all to fill out an online report. https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

I have to take the switch out and slightly bend the pins...then it lasts a couple years. I think it should have been a recall as I have never had a vehicle do this before. Anyway it's the switch and you can pay close to a hundred to fix it or pull it out clean it bend the pins back to add some more resistance to them. Re-install and check thoroughly.

I know these posts are dated 2008 and 2009 however I am having problems with my headlights not turning on or off via switch. The lights come on by themselves. The door locks have a mind of their own. The van luckily is programmed to shut the power off after so many minutes. After reading everyone's posts I see why Chrysler would do this.
This short has caused me to recharge my battery very often. We've had this van since 05 and has 167000 miles. Mechanically it has been a champ but electrically a dud. I will check the ground located under the battery tray. I really dont want to spend hundreds of dollars to fix this but we can get 200000 miles easy out of it.

I have a 2005 Town and Country and at times I will wake up at 2-3AM to find that my parking lights are on on my van. Sometimes they stay on when the lights are turned off after ignition is off. I sometimes find that if i turn the light switch off and on and off, then turn the van off, it is fine - but if I turn the van off first and then the lights, they act possessed so to speak. I will look to replace the switch as many have mentioned but will confirm for the group if it is a 100% fix.
I was wondering if you fixed this issue, the same thing is happening to my Fathers 05 Town and Country.

Same issue here! I did file a complaint today. We will try putting in a new switch since not driving in the dark is impossible for us. I am at 100000 miles and have an after market warranty but with a $100 deductible. This is truly a dangerous pain in the butt. Not the first electrical issue, I'm sure it's not the last. May be time to trde in.

Only the park lights and the left side headlight turns on when I am ready to drive. The right headlight won't turn on. Where can be a fault. Can it be a day light running module. Please advise

I've been having the save problems with my headlights and door locks. I will try some of the solutions I found here. Until you get yours fixed, you might try what helps me with the headlights. I've noticed when I have my car in reverse when backing out if the driveway, the lights come right on. If you try thus please post and let me know if it works for you as well.

This also happened to my 2005 Caravan. It's sad to see that this is still happening, with no help at all from Dodge/Chrysler. I talked to them and they had no idea/info/help. Ridiculous. This is a serious problem... So here's my input... (By the way, a BIG thanks to all the other posts for your info/input and help. You guys are awesome.) My headlights are working now, (but not sure for how long). The fix seems to be to take apart the headlight switch and put it back together(not a big job). My contacts looked fine, but like others have said, they are just loosely fitted in and probably shift enough to cause bad connection. The ol' take it apart-put it back together trick worked. Finger's crossed.

I was having the same intermittent problems with my headlights, on my 2005 Dodge caravan SXT. I removed headlight switch assembly, it's held in by two spring clips, cleaned switch contacts AND soldered switch to board. I believe that an intermittent connection was occurring where switch made contact with board, changing switch assembly would also fix this problem at a cost of 100 dollars plus labor. This work was done two weeks ago and so far the problem seems to be fixed.
. It has been almost a year since I performed above repair and I'm happy to report that the problem has not returned. Chrysler has issued a recall for Model year 2005 - 2006 caravans, LIFETIME WARRANTY on headlamp switch. I recently received a letter from Chrysler Motors confirming this.

Had a headlight issues on my 2002 DGC ES AWD, turned out to be a BCM. A new battery and map sensor, just under a 22 hundred dollar bill, was disgusted.
Now my 2004 Chrysler Town&Country base, has no low/high beam or daytime running lights. Replaced the switch and still nothing. At first it was off and on, seems to happen when wet/damp out, not i have nothing at all. My parking lights, signals, blue high bean indicator, wipers all work fine. Will be sending this one to a small machanic and not the dealer, can't have another multi thousand dollar job done again. just found out that the dealers are not $100.00 and hour here in NY state, are you kidding me?
I own a 2007 DGC SXT and waiting for that to take it's turn, shame on you Mopar!

My 2005 grand caravan is the same. Why has there not been a recall this seems to be potentially life threatening
