I also have the same problem with our 1991 caravan (no instrument panel guages work). I was wondering if you had any success figuring out a solution to the problem? Please assist if you can. Thank you. |

I'm haveing the same problem. It's been happening on and off. I used to hit the dashboard and it started working but that doesn't help anymore.
The mechanic told me I "probably" need a new Body Module Control, for $900!!! I don't know what to do. Check engine light came on too. |

I have a 2001 Caravan and smelled smoke, the cluster went off and back on except the speedo and gear shift indicator. Dealer wants $900 for new one. Got one at the autowreckers for $100 and it works but there are extra lights about "abs" and "trac on" which I dont't have. Parts dept says the replacement should work and service dept says there are no adjustments they know of. Does anyone know the cure???

Hi, My wife's 02 grand caravan has had similar issues.Try this,dis-connect the battery for a short time (15-20min),then re-connect.this causes a reset of several systems.I cant explain why it works, but stumbled on it when the original batt failed.we have had to this 3 or 4 times withgreat results

Hi I had the same issue with the Plym Neon. It might be the same issue - Chrysler used cold sodering and it fails. You have to pull the cluster and resoder. Otherwise shell out 800 to have the dealer replace the cluster. I've done it to two neons. They have a fix on Neon.org in the forums.
I hope it works on the 98 GC I'm planning to buy. |

Hi I have a 02 grand caravan sport and all my dash lights are out...including my radio heat etc...I heard something about it possibly being the cluster light? does anyone have a clue where this would be or how much to replace it? Thank you for the help

I had the issue of all my instrument cluster out and this is what i found to be the cause. After some research, it appears that Dodge instrument clusters seem to go out. It may be due to poor soldering or some other reason. So i took my instrustment cluster out (about 25 minutes worth of work and found that one of the terminals on the circuit board was broken. The solder had just cracked on the grounding terminal where the plug meets the sircuit board. After a quick solder, I re-installed and tested and it appears to have been the fix.

Can you please tell me if your turn signals and hazard warning lights failed also, just curious before I start to rip out my dash. Thanks |

I have the same problem. I tried the solution of disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes. This seems to have worked. Only time will tell.

Interesting reading.
The "background" lights went out on my Caravan instrument panel. All red and yellow are working, I believe (check engine, gas low, etc.). So, I pulled the cluster out and connected a 9V battery with wires to each of the lights and they all light. I most definitely have a short somewhere (perhaps elsewhere in the dash) because I've gone through my 2nd 7.5A fuse for the instrument cluster. I'd recently installed a new radio and was pushing the radio in; "did I slice any supply wires?" Am curious to try disconnecting/reconnecting the battery like some others talked about, but I doubt that that will help when there's a short! Now how to narrow down the short... |

I have the problem of no instrument panel light when I turn on my headlights. Also the alarm for leaving the car with the headlights on no longer works and the radio doesn't shut off. I am told it is the Body Control Module (at over $600CDN). My mechanic says he can put in a shunt of some kind to give me half power to instrument panel....
Last night my looks-like-a-transmission warning light came on and stayed on (sorry can't remember the technical name). Right now that is my main concern! Please let me know if you have had similar problems. B |

How did you access the instrument cluster to remove it, please? |

My 2005 Dodge Caravans instrument cluster, brake lights(except small one on top of the van), and turn signals all were out when I started the van. Everything else works just fine including the head and tail lights. I disconnected a trailer just before then if its any help. I have checked all the fuses and relays, tried resetting the bcm, and anything else I could find on the net. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
