It has been almost a year now since our second shift at JNAP was eliminated. We all expected it to be temporary. With new Jeeps coming out next model year, I want to be optimistic about the prospect of being called back to work. But, is that being realistic with the state that Chrysler is in? Three weeks to decide to hang in there or take this latest buyout offer! Right now , I have to say no to it and take my chances, again. What do my other Local 7 brothers and sisters think about this situation?

This is a hard decision, but there latest buyout offer does not satisfy me. I was hoping for that $140 they offered in SL (yea I know I'm dreaming). For that I would of ran away from Chrysler.

You guys just don't get it. There is going to be no demand what so ever for a 2nd shift at JNAP. You guy's are barely supporting one shift as it is. You guys will be on 1 shift until at least 3rd quarter 2010 or early 2011. Commander is gone soon and there will be one vehicle to replace both the command and the GC. I'm a manufacturing planner for a major Chrysler supplier. Hint hint....we do you guys electronics down here in Huntsville,AL ...you know the ex Chrysler stepchildren. Good day folks

I was at Local 7 Friday, and the word is not good for 2nd shift, according to a person who is working first shift. Also a union officer indicated the same bad news to me. So I would be thinking of doing something, anything else and if it happens then go back if you think the roller coaster ride is over at that point. Since I'm retired and drawing SSA, I can't even feel sorry for leaving when I did. But Chrysler was great to us while it was great.

Any JNAP folks out there that could respond to this original thread and stay on topic? As of today we have a week to decide to either hang in there or take the VTEP. I feel presured to leap but I think I will hang in there and ride it out. The job market is terrible and I have been looking. I like to think that keeping the hope alive that we will eventually get called back is better than severing all ties for good and never having the chance to get back at all.

it will not stay this way forever--but,this is a great chance to get retrained @ the governments expense....and get cash. but, i don't see the reason chysler-should punish us for leaving (never work for us ever in life..or anybody that does business..with us) Well in that case--i'm done with u forever...give me $140,000. who cares about a pension @ 65.
