Yes...but start pay for core jobs is not supposed to be $14 an hour. That's my point. Start pay is not supposed to be that unless it's for a non-core job. Isn't being a TPT the only way you CAN get a non-skilled job at Chrysler?
Since they haven't identified what jobs are what...they are getting by with hiring people for $14 dollars an hour to work on the line. By the way...they also told my dad's friend that his son's TOP pay would be $18 and hour and that's it...even for working on the line.
What I'm trying to express here is...TPT jobs are basically being classified as non-core...no matter where or what. Newly hired TPTs will only make $14 an hour to start and $18 an hour max until they are hired full-time...which will never happen. Why would they hire anyone full time that they can pay that little? Seems to me like the company would want to get rid of as many full-timers as possible and staff the place with the lower-paid TPTs.
Just a side note...TPTs who have been there for a long time get paid almost the same wages at a full-time worker. They just don't work as much.
""Isn't being a TPT the only way you CAN get a non-skilled job at Chrysler?"" Are you asking if the only way to be a full time non skilled employee is to be a Tpt first? If so the answer is no.alot of people have been hired full time w/o having been a tpt.Anyway .hope all works out for you.I think our current TPTS have earned the right to be full timers !!

Yes...I know that people have been hired without being a TPT first. However...the last time that happened was what...9 years ago...10? Currently, the only HOPE of being hired is to be a TPT first. If some miracle happened and Chrysler went on a hiring spree...I realize that not everyone would have to be a TPT first. But...something tells me that's not going to happen anytime in the near future. I agree with you...there are many TPTs who have paid their dues in more way than one and now they are suffering and losing hope because of a weak economy and a struggling auto industry. They deserve a full-time job. Many of them work harder and put up with a lot more crap than some of the full-timers.

I totally agree alot of good friends of mine are TPT's and have worked for 7 or 8 years for Chrysler Fithfully. It would be WRONG to overlook them.

If they are so worried about the TPT's pay , I think they should leave the current active one's alone and focus on the future new hires? Besides the ones I know have earned thier hourly pay and saved Chryslers rear many times!

While I agree $14 an hour is ridiculous, it if says it in the contract, then it should be followed. If you pick and choose which items to follow, they could pick and choose even worse items to follow.

It is my understanding that the contract says $14 an hour for new hires on NON-CORE jobs. Jobs that do not involve working on the line. They were supposed to be jobs that did not result in a finished product...like a minivan.
It all boils down to grey areas. They wrote the contract that way on purpose, and then pushed hard for a "yes" vote in key plants. They got exactly what they wanted...room for interpretation. So...TPTs get thrown under the bus...and no one really cares because their full-time jobs are still safe(for now) and still for the same pay. This contract is being stretched and bent to suit whatever this company wants. And...it looks like the union is ok with it..because, right now, it only effects TPTs...and who cares about them? One thing to keep in mind...if they can get away with this...what or who will be next?

Like I care what you say!
I am stating what can happen when you allow certain things to slide. Does the term past presidence mean anything to you? You can't believe the nubmer of times I have heard that, and trust me they will try to use it to their advantage.

I don't think they should hire anyone for $14 on a core line job.The $14 an hour is for NON CORE JOBS.

Please understand we are not of any intrest to the UAW anymore they are well fed on dues from the casino workers and everyone else, as Autoworkers slowly disappear. As for Parts or shall I say the PDC's Local Union Reps need not be getting paid 12hrs a day to sit in a office while LPH "Lines Hourly Picked" Seem to slip below the Benchmark lol Roger knows its not legal to pay those reps like that! Roger you are very entertaining to us out on the floor. It is you and your people who have messed up the parts operations. You should get a permanent DLO and payback the company all your wages and bonuses and say our sorry for your childish behavior.
