I have an '03.

I was putting down the window and I heard a pop.....then the worm cable started coming out of hte door panel against the window.

I was able to put the window up and can still put it up and down.....but the worm cable keeps coming up as it did. there is also a grinding noise and when I put the window down, it fre falls for about 2 inches before falling at the "regulated" speed.

I fixed my motherinlaws window regulator with mig welder wire and epoxy. works as good as new. Don't recommend this for any one just one with common sence and some experience working on cars. I do recommend for every one to buy FORD I have owned FORDS for years and never have problems like this my wife always have to have some kind of junk like Chevy , Honda , Hyundai , Toyota had all kinds of problems finally got her in a mazda the ones that FORD owned more than 50% of back to problems.

The first recall was supposed to take care of this problem.
A small metal shield was attached to the ball joint, which at the best, was a joke.
Chrysler is negligent for not repairing this problem at the time of the first recall.

Had similar problem with driver's rear window regulator. second installed unit failed with same failure mode as described in all of the above comments. Went to Chrysler customer compliant 800 number; they would not pay for repair even with this known problem. why does it appear to be only this window. Is the regulator different for different windows, I don't think so.

My wife traded in her 2009 nissan frontera xtra cab and she traded it for a 2003 jeep iberty sport limited. We drove the jeep from flordia to California out in the middle of no where the back tire blew out and it took us all day to get to a repair shop then we found out that the tire was new words from car sales man mouth was a 12year old tire that should have never been put a car it should have been sent back to manufacture!!!!!! So now I have a back passenger rear tire well blown out.... Then my wife is driving to work and the motor starts making weird noises so she takes it to shop and motor is blown. Now we went to a payed for great running truck to this piece of shit that sits in drive way making me upset at usa car builders never again so sad can't even trust something thats made in the USA anymore!!!!!!!!

My brother is a mechanic and told me that vehicles 'generally' burn a quart of oil for every thousand miles driven.(I drive a minimum of 500 miles per week) That being said, every vehicle is different (even the same make, model and engine as you have will behave differently in another vehicle). I seem to burn through oil very fast too, though not as fast as you. I checked my oil two weeks ago and it was on the high end of the 'safe operating zone' and last night I thought it sounded funny so I checked the oil and there was only 3/4" hanging on to the stick. That's exactly how I blew up my engine a year ago. The oil was gone before I knew it! I used to have a Chevy Tracker that never used ANY oil. I just had to change it out from time to time. It must be something about the type of engine and how hard it has to work to haul itself around. I also told my bro that whenever I get out of the Bert after driving, it smells very "burny". He says the only time you should ever smell burning oil is if there is a leak - and he's checked and said there isn't one, so I can't explain that either. So, unless you drive about 1,000 miles a day, I'd say you definitely have a problem. That amount of oil in one week is alot. I wish you luck getting it pinpointed.
If your vehicle is burning oil at that kind of rate, you have other problems. Burning that kind of oil is indicative of leaking valves or a head gasket issue. Given that most vehicles keep 4-5.5qts of oil in the engine, that would leave you with 1-2.5qts by the time you got your oil changed, assuming you changed it every 3k. That's inaccurate. Don't want you thinking you need to be adding oil unnecessarily.

Did the light go off on its own or did you have to have it reset? Also, do you remember the error code that was displayed?
My done light flickers or stays on after turning as well, fixes when I bump it towards the wheel. Long term.. Idk yet.

Jeep liberty rear window problem
The company will fix a problem with a future problem
Why not a metal part for a real fix
If you go cheap it will cost more money
The dealer pays first three times
Then you pay when off waranty
Waste of time and money
Not to mention, inconvinience

I purchased my 2007 Jeep Liberty 10 months ago brand new. Within the first 6 weeks I had to have the driver front window fixed. 3 weeks later is was the front passenger window that started giving me trouble, so the dealer replaced the parts. Now window #3, the driver side passenger window fell into the door. Took it into the dealer today and had to have the motor fixed, was told it was the regulator. This is ridiculous! 3 windows in 10 months and 12,000 miles. This was covered under my warranty, but I am seriously thinking of extending my warranty just for the window issues.
Sounds just like my story. Dealer covered every repair until the warranty expired. I then called Chrysler and complained and they agreed to cover the repair. The dealership was not helpful, but the rep from Chrysler called them and arranged everything. Later that year I received a letter stating that repair costs would be covered for this defect. They say it is not a safety concern as to why it was not recalled ... I am working on that issue now. Make sure that Chrysler has all your updated contact info so that in the future they can contact you concerning update with this issue.

No you were drunk when you bought that piece of junk jeep. Here is a suggestion, take the radiator cap off, and drive a new non chrysler vehicle under it.

My oil light keeps coming on and off and sometimes atayes on for a while. I have a 2003 liberty sport,we already changed the sending unit sensor. Any ideas what it could be? Now the engine is knocking when light comes on. I parked it,will never buy another Jeep as long as I live.

Has anyone found a solution to getting the window regulators covered under recall on the diesel Liberty? We have a 2005 Liberty and the dealer just said it has the part that has been recalled but because its a diesel the VIN isn't included in the recall.

We have a 2004 Jeep Liberty Sport. I have replaced the Drivers Power Window Regulator, Right Rear, and Now about to replace the Right Front Passenger Window Regulators. Even though it has only been the Plastic gizmo that broke that pulls the window up, I have still replaced the whole complete unit including the motors at about $130 each, doing the work myself did save a lot too. It takes the better part of about an hour start to finish, it's really not all that hard if you have mechanical abilities I might should add. But I found on eBay they do make an after market Aluminum gizmo that replaces the trouble some Plastic OEM part. If you need help doing the change over you can watch live video showing each step, just Google it....

I have replaced my rear window regulators 12 times 6 on each side... I've only paid 3 or 4 times to repair them but what a pain in the BUTT. Driving to the dealer 12 times at 16 miles round trip that's 192 miles to have the same problem over and over again. Finally purchased a new heavy duty part to replacee the broken nylon piece from Steiger performance and so far so good. I have owned 3 jeeps in my life but this is my last.
