I have just replaced my daughters 2003 Jeep Liberty (9.7K actual miles) RH Passenger Rear Window regulator. Bought a Jeep part from Earnhardts in Gilbet AZ. Question: Why can't Jeep/Chrysler see that the weekest part in reulator is the nylon part that the Window clips to??? I found a .5-75"X.25Dia thin nylon part that had broken from the lift component that the window is attached to. I actually will be able to repair the old regulator for about $5.

FYI the reason the window slides down can be explained by the failure of the nylon part. Once the small round nylon piece breaks off the nylon (lift) part is no longer attached to the cable that moves up and down via the window motor.Window motor is still working just fine.

I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty. I have moved numerous times since I bought my Jeep in 2002; how would I find out if my Jeep has recalls?

They do not have to recall these type of defects by the federal government, only things that can cause a crash, loss of control or defect in a crash test!

I own three Jeeps, a wrangler, a cherokee and a 2002 jeep liberty. Two days ago my transmission failed, felt like it just slipped into neutral. I took it Immediately to the Jeep dealership just down the busy highway I was on and left it. After only about 2 hours in their shop I already owed them 250 bucks. Now they're saying its my transmission and my jeep barely has 84,000 miles on it. Today I'm borrowing my mothers old caddy that has almost 200,000 miles on it. Go figure. I believe this loyal customer has found her senses and met her wits end with Jeeps. Getting rid of all of them ASAP!

HI..I was wondering if I could pick your brain about repairing the rear left pass window? It seems the motor still works as the cable seems to move up and down in the sleeve. My email address is joeyvoli@yahoo.com. Thanks

you didnt say how old this vehicle is nor did you mention ever having the trans fluid changed.. I agree it sux that yours went out even after 84,000 miles but it does sound like it was past its warranty date so you cant blame the dealer FYI ..you should ( if you dont ) change your fluids no matter what brand it is. good luck to you

i have an 03 jeep liberty. my rear passenger side window made a grinding noise as i rolled it up, then the window fell down. reading on here it seems that this happens to almost everyone. it's ridiculous. at first we thought it was just the motor, so we ordered a new one. well, just now as we were replacing the old motor, we found out that it still works, and that it is the regulator that is the piece of crap. i really don't wanna pay $150 for a new one. MLMLTL.. where did you find the nylon part? i'm sure we could fix it ourselves if we had one.. any other help would be great, too. thanks.

Hi..I have a 03 Liberty and the driver rear side window won't go up. Many folks have described a nylon clip. What does that clip attache to? When I lower the window it works fine but when I try and raise it the worm cable inside the white plastic tub actually starts coming to far out the top end. Anyone have this same problem and help me to a fix?
Thanks,
Patrick

My daughter's brand new 35 day old Jeep Liberty is broken again! At approximately 30 miles per hour when accelerating it lose revolutions per minute and shakes. Then hitting the brake and then the gas allows it to recover. One whole week in the shop, and a completely new computer control module have not fixed the problem. We are VERY frustrated with this car too. I will be without a car again so that she can get to and from school. I wish I read what your friends new about this car. I think we will be working with Lemon Laws.<quoted text>
sounds like the the crank sensor needs replaced. Mine went out and did the same thing around 30,000 miles, above 2300 RPM It would shudder/shake cut-out and lose RPM's then recover around 1500 RPM. I have a stick shift so was able to drive it into the dealership. I was there about two hours. I now have 54,000 mile on it without any other problems. I just bought a new set of Goodyear Warngler Silent Armors for it and plan on keeping it. I have been very satisfied.

Hi - I also have gotten about the same gas mileage from my Jeep. Found out that the gas gauge is going. Check the litres of fuel when you fill up the tank. It is a 74 litre tank. When my fuel light would come on and I would fill it up, it would only take about 44 litres. I was only using the top half of my tank all the time. Its an expensive fix and you have to replace the fuel pump to have it fixed. My fuel pump is fine its just the mechanism in the gas tank that is going, but somehow they are connected. I now watch my mileage on my trip odometer and then I know for sure when I need to fill up.

Hi - I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport that I am dealing with the same problems. Gas mileage has been getting slowly worse over the last year. Just at 100,000km, and had an other oil change and tune up done. Now my gas mileage is worse!! Use to get 500km on a tank of fuel and now I am lucky if I get 300km. No one seems to be able to figure out whats wrong. They are talking my drive train might be an issue with that, but not sure. Everything checks out with the diagnostic checks.
Squeek on the front, when going over bumps happened for me, when I had my brakes replaced it corrected. Not sure why.
The 'freezing up' happened to me also, but only when I was in reverse. Have not been able to get it corrected.

I have a 2002 jeep liberty, 62k miles - my drivers window makes a shrill squeal sometimes when putting it up/down. Does this mean I should be expecting to replace the window regulator in the near future? Anything I can do to avoid it...it's going into the shop on Monday for an oil change.

The windows in a Jeep are not designed to be rolled down. Good luck

I just suffered my 3rd and 4th window regulator failures this past weekend. My 2006 Liberty is off warranty, so I was looking for a way to just lock the windows in the UP position. Thanks for the U bolt suggestion ! I am not going to pay the dealer more than $300 to fix each of my two failed windows. What a piece of junk.

I hear a grinding noise when i put it in reverse, and it seems to have lost power over the years. No other problems with it,but i use mobil one and just got the tranny servised for the first time at 89,000 miles. Also keep the tires aligned and that will fix rotor and brake problems I align mine when I get new tires.Hope I could help someone with my info
