Any news on when we plan to be up, Are we up for just two weeks then shut down for two?
If they were planning to retool prior to restart and forgo shutdown I could reschedule vacation plans, otherwise I'll just leave it alone.

Production is for June 29 and Team leaders and skilled trades are June 15. We will work for 2 weeks and be down for the 2 week shutdown. This saves them money on sub pay!! Saves the state a bundle on unemployment money.

Hearing that when everyone comes back from standard shutdown they will only be running a week or two, then down again. Hubby says it's going to be a bumpy ride for a little while. LOTS is changing inside plants. WAY too much to type....

There is serious concerns about suppliers.
We've lost a few through all this and it may affect parts.
We have enough in Windsor to start back up for a couple of weeks, but the shutdown may run longer then anticipated, if they need to replace certain suppliers.
Lots of things up in the air right now, and management doesn't seem to have it all worked out yet.

I have been talking with a few guys and it is going to be different. It is going to be a mess dealing with unemployment if we can't run for more than a couple of weeks at a time.

I agree. It'll all depend on product demand I guess. I'll bet South stays running though. From what was said to me, the Chrysler Group LLC only considers one product out of the lineup a true Jeep. The Wrangler. Great news for the South plant! The rest of us... we're just a spin off S.U.V. Creeped me out a little bit, but I understand.

Lets just hope product demand picks up, and maintains so the North plant can stay running smoothly.

I'll guess and say they haven't figured it all out because they too are learning the new changes within the plants. Biggest one, from my understanding, for them to accept is that when Corporate comes, they won't be talking to them.. They will be talking with Linepeople and TL's as they feel thats who truly knows whats going on! GO FIGURE. Common sense! What a concept to run a company on! LOL!!!!

Valid point on suppliers! Can't build a darn thing without them, no matter how many orders you have piled up!!

1) New ranking status. Now you strive to be Bronze, Silver, or Gold. Takes a score of 50 to reach Bronze.(guess Fiat was ranking us during their visits. No plants at even a Bronze in the U.S...yet...)

2) All Data driven now.

3) New priority 'trouble' rating. No more L-20, etc., etc. Now goes by how frequent a problem, not just the problem itself.

4) Total TEAM concept and accountability.

5) Sharing technologies. No more,'you figure it out' kindof thinking from plant to plant.

Things are going to be different, thats for sure. I don't know if they plan a supervisor reduction within the plants.. nothing was said about that at all to me.

My hubbys overall comment about day 1 so to speak was; "It's do or die."

Most of this was in previous prgrams we had before- just never supoorted by management..
Always according to certification ISO suppose to take corrective action according to frequecny of problem, they just never did it as never forced to do it

Fiat WCM is simular to the current programs that were never utilized to their full extent at the plant. TPM will be in effect for maintenance and it will cross over into the production work stations. Everything will be cleaned to begin the process and that has begun this week at SHAP. It appers that quality is important, and getting people involved to improve product and process like smart mfg. I agree with the point that TL's will take over for the shortage in supervisors until we close. I think that there will be something close to the L10 & L20 and continue to go after equipment and material issues, but they are going after the most bang for the buck when it comes down to correcting production loss problems. One problem occurs 10 times a month and cost $1,000 and the next problem occurs twice a month costing $50,000. I hope they can improve our quality and get a better reputation for our cars so that they sell. When they sell, we work. Can WCM work, yes. Will it happen before 2010? I doubt it.

Now that statement makes my Hubbys statement, "We've learned this 2-3 times before" make perfect sense now. Thanks SHLAPS.
