Rumor also has it that a meteor will strike planet Earth in the next couple years wiping out mankind as we know it. I believe the same one spreading the layoff rumors are also spreading the Armageddon/End of the World rumors. Happy New Year!!!

I am in Dept. 6200 at KTP. We were informed tonite that we will be down after Fri. Dec. 14th, until the new year. Also, I will be laid off probably the third week of January(I have Aug. 99 seniority). Not all departments will be off next week there. ITP 1 will be down as well starting 12/14 to 1/14. I am surprised that they will bring us back in January, but that is what the union told us. I'm not sure if anyone knows what is going on at all.

This rumor has been going around for at least 10 years. If I'm gone, how are they going to take advantage of that good contract?

The 10 years is very beleivable, considering they haven't really hired anybody since 2000. They have gotten down to the 98 senority before, I think last year they were there. WIth the way cerebus is dropping shifts at the assembly plants it should trickle down. If they don't layoff at the transmission plants those plants should be very concerned. It basically means they aren't worrying about the budgets, and have pretty much written that plant off.

I know that some of the transmissions use go into more than Chrysler vehicles. If they still do or not, I don't know. But I know they have before.

not anymore, pretty much all chrysler products. At one time they went into fords, and I think the most recent one was in the mitsubushis suv's. That ended probably at least 5 years ago though

Subject Indiana Transmission Plant 1 Production Derate Effective 1/14/2008

All,

On January 14, 2008, ITP1 will launch a new production rate of 1600 Transmissions per day average with a mix of 1300 545RFE and 300 68RFE. The shift pattern will be a full assembly and production plan for first shift and partial assembly and production plan on third shift. Second shift will be very limited. All manpower reduction communication will occur by mail during the week of 1/7/2008.

This volume reduction represents a 32% reduction in daily volume and is a direct of result of the recent company announcements regarding the changing business model and restructuring due to the economic and industry conditions.

These changes are unfortunate, but we all must work together to produce a World Class product that will last the customer a lifetime.

Sincerely,

Joe

Heard all early retirements and VTEPs are off the table. Something to do with the International and the company. Anyone else know anything?

Brian Garrison(Plant Mgr.@KTP)gave an update in a meeting attended by a team leader in my dept.He said 550 people would be laid off in January. I understood that number was non-skilled only. I do not know the number on the skilled side, only that there will be some. The shift reductions and changes are numerous, so I won't attempt to post them here.He also said that number could vary either way depending on demand. As I remember, that amount of people could get into early '98 seniority. That number was also for all three plants. If someone can obtain an updated seniority list, they may be able to confirm how far it goes back. Have not heard anything regarding the earlier post on the vteps and buyouts. I think it is really going to be ugly this time around.

There was a list going around tonight at ITP1 that showed Feb. 28, '98 as the cutoff. Anyone with lower seniority will be gone in Jan.

I heard that Brian Garrison is taking over for that idiot Ken Moore at Casting after the first of the year. Anyone heard a similar story. I remember Brian from years back but didn’t know him very well. He has to be better than “Moore money”! Isn’t it interesting how this monster known as “the grapevine” has been created. Can you believe that companies exist that actually keep their employees informed, good or bad. It’s amazing that Chrysler has any loyalty at all.

People bad mouth moore, but he would fight for product. He got the 41TE in the neon, and look at the casting plant, they got an engine block! Bash him as much as you want, as I think he had issues, but at least he will fight for product. The only thing KTP got since he left was 6200 and that is just a short term product. I think if he was still at KTP, would have gotten much of the 62TEM. At one time they were looking at building that, not buying a getrag design.
