sebring transmission problems
Chrysler has a default in the transmission they have been putting in for years!!!! It is in chyrsler & dodge cars. The pin in the trans slips because it doesn't have a retainer that would cost chrysler about $50 dollars but instead continue to put these faulty trans in there cars. These pins are known to slip and put a hole in the casing about the size of a half dollar. I had it happen to 2 chryslers already. I've come out of pocket thousand of dollars and the second time it happened I was on the highway to Chicago. Luckly I was traveling with little traffic and there wasn't a semi behind me. I wonder how many lives have been lost due to this problem????? I know this trans had been doing this at least since 1996 on the chysler sebring

After building them for 9 yrs I can tell you that it has nothing to do with a pin in the trans. It is a wet clutch trans. It is a sensor problem. The sensor has to tell the comp. that it is at operating temp. Your trans needs a new selenoid.

Exactly. You have two speed sensors in the side of the housing (input and ouput speeds). One of them is bad. They screw in and out without tools (if you have strong hands) and can be replaced in a matter of minutes.

I have a 95 Chrysler Sebring which I've had for over a year and I absolutly love. Earlier this year I was involved in an accident which involved the front & rear suspension. Since then there has been a leak right around the rear seal of the transmission. I have to add fluid occasionally and it's fine, but when the fluid gets low it doesn't shift. I've taken it to a couple of places and they say they want to do more than replace the seal. I can't see spending the kind of money they are talking about. The car is older and paid for. One mechanic told me I should stick to my guns & get the seal replaced & see how it goes. I think if the tranny is shot it's shot and I'll be replacing it anyway, I'd rather get as many miles out of it as possible in the mean time. Any suggestions

1999 Sebring -Reset the chip about 6 months ago and now like every two weeks after the car has been stilling all night the transmission doesn't what to work for about 20 seconds -Then put it back into drive and your on your way. Then all day it is working just fine.

What is going on?

I purchased a 95 sebring off of ebay it went for 660.The seller was test driving it before I came to get it and the front seal is now leaking. He said that if I still want it he'll only charge me 300.The car still drives. I priced the repairs at about 650 to 700.Would it be better to get the transmission replaced all together just repair the seals

I just purchased a 2004 Sebring convertible. It had vibration at low and high speeds. Thinking it may be a separated tire or bent wheel, I replaced all four tires today and had them inspect the wheels, as well as the suspension & alignment. The new tires have made a big difference at high speeds, and some at lower speeds, but there is still a shake at speeds under 50mph. Any suggestions?

I have a 1996 crysler sebring. Last week I checked the transmission fluid and it was low,so I went to the nearest store and got two quarts.
Four day later my car stop changing gears. Is there a special type of fluid that I should have used

I have a 1997 Chrysler Sebring Lxi. This car has approx. 80,000 miles on it, after I back out my dirveway and put it into gear (D)it wants to slip and not go any place. If i give it a little bit of gas it kicks back into to gear and drives. Sometimes it slips when im driving or when its shifting into second gear. And recently a woman pulled out in front of me and I had to slam on the brakes and come to a complete stop, after I did so the car wouldnt go anywere. But gace it some gas and it took off...??? Any suggestions?

Chrysler auto transmissions require ATF+4. If you use Dexron III or anything but ATF+4 then it can result in transmission not functioning properly.

You will want to get the fluid that is in there removed- including what is in the torque converter, and replaced with the proper fluid.

Does this apply to a 2001 Sebring LXi coupe too?
The tranny suddenly just stopped today with NO warning and I would rather not replace it!
