The word is that the plant will reopen early 2011 at 14.65 per hour with Fiat engine line taking over the 3.5 building. Has anyone else heard anything about this confirmation.

It could happen I heard, but probably later in 2012 if they can pick it up for a good price and have the city tear down the older buildings and the enviroment concerns. They could start everyone at 14.65 or less because no one has the right to come back that had seniority. I myself like my new plant, it's closer to my home and less B.S. It's my retirement job.

Never say never, I see what's going on each day at the plant. Fiat people have been here a number of times.

It's nice to know you're still at the plant. I was done the end of October. It would be great if you could find out more and keep me updated.

Thanks,
Jen

I was at the plant until the transition team took over in December. I keep in contact with the those folks. Sorry, no activity....except deactivation.

Last one out, Unless you're on the deactivation team (5 salaried people), in security or a janitor you do not see what you claim.

Wrong, there's three retired Chrysler maintanance people, two salary, security and a company cutting up 2.7 engine racks to be scrapped. I see more than somebody that lives in North Carolina can see.

Sorry, don't live in NC. And I can name by name who is there.

If you know as muchas you claim then you know enough not to spread BS rumors about the plant being resold or opening. People close to the situation know an opening of this plant is unlikely. Don't spread BS.

I wish any of this could be true...but guys...think about it! If Fiat was interested, it would be 9 months to a year at the earliest to re-tool the existing lines. Right now they don't have product or capacity need for the existing engine design or new engines for that matter. They don't have a vehicle which requires a new power train. Sorry to rain on your parade - I hope for the area the plant is re-utilized but any company has to start with a vehicle requirement and more importantly a market to sell it. Unfortunately, not many companies have either!

Who's going to supply Chrysler with the host of new diesel engines that are suppose to be coming.

Company in charge is Oldco managed by Capstone. However, Capstone does not take possession before April 1st, Check with Al J. who is the Chrysler remediation specialist. He has an associate with him from Auburn Hills.
The company destroying racks is American Demolition from Chicago. Check with Tim H from Omnisource, BTW not just the 2.7L brown, black and tan racks will be disposed of, the blue 3.5 will go also. Only 962 of the tan racks are to be left behind.
Omnisource is also taking out all of the dunnage that is vendor specific. I believe Bill S and his crew moved all of the other material handling assets before he left in Dec.
Others I believe still at the plant. Gary C, Joe G, Ben G, Mike F.

Like I said, if you are intimately envolved with the operation you would know that there is no activity other than Chrysler looking to recover some of the remaining useful equipment.

I do not live in SC. I was only visiting. I'm sure you've heard of wifi and laptops.
