I read a story that in Iowa (right-to-work state) the UAW put out a list of non-paying members at the John Deere plant in their newsletter.

"Labor disputes are not for the faint of heart. In a tough campaign at a John Deere plant, four nonunion workers were repeatedly derided as “scabs” and “freeloaders” in the local union's newsletter. They sued the union and its president for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, extortion, and “interference with [their] employment and economic relationship.” The four nonunion employees also alleged the defendants violated Iowa's right-to-work law.

The defendants moved for summary judgment. The district court granted the motion and dismissed the entire lawsuit, because, it reasoned, the content of the union's newsletter was constitutionally protected free speech. "

When the Union uses tactics like this, it just shows people how ugly they can be for money. This is a reason people don't want to be part of a Union they are afraid of. They should try to keep people by making them proud of being in the UAW, not ashamed. The UAW has been in bed with Chrysler for a long time. Now they need to sell their stock in Chrysler and start fighting for us instead of making deals with Chrysler.

Very good reasoning. It's funny that when it comes to this people are concerned about people enjoying benefits but not paying. Calling them freeloaders and such. But they pay no mind to people sucking up and taking advantage of government programs. In reality this right to work does nothing to the Union. It only gives the member of the union more power than they now have. All of you people complaining are just brainwashed by the Union. They don't want you to have the power to walk away if they don't do their job. This question is for the brain dead people. Answer why would they have to worry about you walking away? Answer because they don't want to do their job and you have no choice but to pay your dues anyway. It's just like a dictatorship. Very strong comparisons can be made to the politics of the Democratic Party. Is this what you want for America too? The kool aid drinking sheepeole of America!!

Good job, Linda.

I have the strongest feeling that the union might actually do some real work around here for a change, instead of just making their sex buddies happy.

The UAW has become corrupt.
1. They appoint their buddies and families and sex partners to certain positions
2 They give union days to certain people and ignore others
3. They sit in the office and watch tv and play chess and sleep and workout
4. They don't do their jobs when you need full representation
especially Chrysler's union they are in bed with management time to
opt out going to call state representative to make sure we don't get blackmailed from the union if we chose to opt out when right to work passess

Never had a problem with Right-to-work, my home plant was in a right-to-work state with over 1,997 out of 2,000 in the union. Not everyone in the UAW is brain washed nor do they support everything that the UAW is about, its others that can't get over the fact that Romney's dumb ass didn't get elected and have nothing better to do than troll this site and im sure it's because everyone else that has to be around u are sick of your B.S. Comments so u have to whine behind a computer screen like poor old no life retired.

So a recent post said it the "ugly side" of the Union or better yet "people are afraid to join a union"...LOLOLOLOLOL do not see anyone afraid at my plant when we get paid every week our are recent Quality Bonus of $500.00 or our $1,750.00 on the 21st.

Unions are not perfect, but I would rather have it then not to have it as I have worked in a non-union shop as well and it is night and day.

You are so brainwashed you can't understand common sense. Romney is obviously a very successful person. You don't hold the jobs he has and have the money he has by being you or a community organizer. The subject is not about a person or the election, it is about a ideology. What is false about these statements Mr. Union Representative? You sound like a miserable person that spends all his time at work in a locked office playing with himself behind a computer because you get paid whether you do your job or not. Obviously not doing the job your suppose to do.

LOL, yep you can become president! fyi your facts on Obama and that community organization was his background...LOL

Bottom line Linda if you do not want to join a Union do not apply for Union shop/job......do you join a new gym just because it opens? no you decide and then pay your way in. So if you are against a Union Shop please go to a non Union shop and we will all be happy Linda.

Another Union Rep.The law in itself does not do away with Unions or restrict it in anyway. Why don't you just tell us all what the problem is with the choice of right to work? What does it hurt for people to have the choice? What could possibly be the down side of it? We need to know the negative side so we can make a logical decision on it? Just tell us this bottom line.
