when I turn the key the dash lights come on, but nothing happens, no click or slow start or anything. after a few tries it starts normal and battery is fine. It runs great and nothing else is wrong. This doesn't happen every time so it's hard to duplicate. I have tried the other key. I have tried with foot on and off the brake, doesn't matter. any ideas???

You may want to check out the posts for the 1998 Chrysler Town & Country minivan. You may be having similar problems that we are. Here's a sample post:

For the past 2 months my van has had moments when it will not start. All the lights come on, the radio etc, and when we first go to start it, it turns over but won't stay running. We did a little research and found that it had something to do with the secuirty system - if we used the original key when this happens, it will start. This worked for a while but now we have to let it sit for about an hour and then try again. Then it starts. I'm wondering if it still something to do with the alarm system. Has anyone else run into this problem???
Thanks!
Hi All! I HAD this problem with my 1998 Chrysler Town and Country. It would start and immediately shut off. I would repeat this 4 times, and it would not do anything. I let it sit for about 45 minutes and it would start and run fine. It was doing this once every few months. I checked with the dealers in our area...they had NO CLUE. My mechanic checked for codes...no codes.
I went online, and found a number of folks who had this problem, and changed a lot of expensive thing s, but it did not fix it. I found someone online who said they had a fix. When it acts up, hit the dash. The problem is the CIRCUIT BOARD behind the instrument panel. I tried this on the next "act up", and it worked. I tried to start and it shut off. Tried again and shut off. I then turned the key on and banged the dash ahead of the instrument panel (one good bang---somewhere between laying your hand on the dash, and trying to put your hand thru the dash).

Had same problems listed above.

I've resoldered connector pins on back of circuit board behind cluster panel.

Two weeks and counting...still no problems!!!

Check out the following links...

I am having the same problem with my 98 Chrystler mini van. None of the gauges work, along with the radio, power door locks, head lights and the dome lights. I have taken the dash apart and resoldered the gauge cluster and still have no luck with getting it to start or anything. Can some please help? Thank you.

It could be the body control module I am having the same issues and that is what I have came up with in the research of what it could be plus mine is throwing warnings so that is what i am reading that might be wrong
