Wondering if any other owner of a 2012 TC experience a hard shift when running on ECON mode? What I mean is you can really feel the car change gear and hear a loud tug. I'm only running the car at about 2000rpm. Is this normal???

Thanks.

No we are not actually alone. See this link for more info:

They are saying it needs a software or flash update. But my dealer is saying otherwise and that it is normal. Although I'm not a mechanic, having your transmission go like that will destroy it.
Try taking it back to your dealer and kindly post what they say.
Thanks.

My dealer told my wife is normal shifting, I called them and asked him if the new vans he has parked in the lot shift the same way I will leave happy, if not he better figure out what,s wrong , he agreed to update the software, but if it keeps having problems I will keep taking it back, if it continues. I will push for the lemon law to kick in

I'm taking mine in next week to have the reflash EM 38 performed which should fix the problem. I also have a knocking sound under the floor behind the second row seats when going over average road bumps. Is this an issue with the shocks that are mounted to the frame in this location?

Hi Guys and Gals,

I've also posted my problem on another forum and those who have had the M38 update done have positive feedback. How lovely it would be to say I told you so to my idiotic service manager.

Here's the link:

Yes the flash fixes that issue pretty much. But I do not notice better fuel economy in Econ mode. Anyone else ?

I had the EM38 reflash done free at dealer and this corrected the problem.

I too got the recall and took my T&C in to have it taken care of. Which they did. Last weekend in the ECO mode I thought I would loose my transmission in the street. Took it to the dealer and was told there wasn't a fix for it and I should just not use the ECO. Asked if it was going to be addressed by Chrysler the answer was no. I'm glad it worked for some of you, for me the ECO mode still stinks

Same problem with the 2013. They did a flash update and it helped it for about 200 miles then went back to the same problems

We recently bought a used 2013 TC. It seems that it has a very touchy gas pedal. Since I have not driven a brand new TC, was wondering if this is normal. At times, barely touching the gas, the tires spin and our heads are whipping back! If the streets are wet, you can almost guarantee the tires will spin every time. Also, have noticed that the van idles very hard while in park or stopped at a stop light. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

We purchased a 2012 T&C about 4 months ago and have noticed all of these same issues. I'm glad to read your post Damon because I've spun out of many places thinking I suddenly went crazy and forgot how to drive! I like the features of the van but these issues are very frustrating. Has the flash helped anybody long term? I'm wondering if we should look into this...

2013 - bought it with 50k on it. Shifted hard, took it back, reset computer, was much better.
2,000 miles later, all symptoms are back. I am taking it in tomorrow as dealer is to correct. Thanks for the tips on EM38 reflash and the Econ button. Never gave the button a 2nd thought. I will try turning off to see if any difference.

Shifts down hard and when almost stopped,'pops' into 1st gear. You can even feel it. When cold it shifts smooth except when very cold will stay in 2nd gear way too long. Once warmed up, all symptoms start up. Odd upward shifts, like it is trying to decided what to do. Oh, and the comment about the rattling sound behind the 2nd row seats, thank you. I thought I was making it up. It sounds like the shock absorber has a loose upper bell sleeve and it is dinging against the lower section.

I like the rig every other way.

The worst offender is the downshift to 1st....it can be pretty rough

I should have bought a Sienna is right. My 2012 T&C is a miserable ride. I'm on my third set of tires at 55,000 miles. The second set were Michelin Defenders and were shot after 30,000. Now I have Coopers. Chrysler vans have historically been great in snow, but not with this transmission. Stuck immediately due to wheel spin. The most annoying problem is the transmission with banging and low speed surge. It jerks like my 1951 Chevy in third gear at 15 MPH. After five trips to the dealer I guess it's normal. Yes he "flashed" it. Bangs into gears and will probably need replaced as soon as the warranty is expired. Chrysler quality is suffering but with a $35,000 price what should I expect.

Our 2013 TC does all those things mentioned with spin outs, surges, sudden revs, hard shifts while in ECON mode. Turn off ECON was what Chrysler Corp told us after they examined it for 4 weeks while we drove a loaner. They say it needs a software update which is not yet available but may be mid-July. We don't see much difference in mileage with ECON on or off. WE love the van but the performance is pitiful.

Just wanted to track back a bit... so your dealer is saying that there is another software update sometime in July, 2014? If so, I really hope it fixes this problem. Like what others have mentioned, after flash/software update, issue seem to have been fixed but is back again but I little improvement in my case. I was also told not to use ECON but this is just crazy, why put something in that supposed to save on fuel that does not work? In my case, in ECON, I get 17 to 18 km/100 and OFF ECON goes up to 21-23 km/100 and that's driving as smooth as possible, only up to 2000rpm and no sudden surges.
