I just purchased a 01 Sebring Convertible and I love it. I have noticed, however; that when the top is up there is a rubbing noise that occurs when I go over bumbs and the like. I imagine that this is to be expected but was wondering if anyone new of some sort of lubricant that would keep the water seal as well as dampen the noise some.

When I put my convertible top down, it squeaks so loudly it hurts my ears. I lubricated all the joints in the mechanism where the squeak sounded like it was coming from, but this did nothing. I think it is the weather strip/seal rubbing against itself (top and bottom) but would love to hear comment on this. Should I be using silicone lubricant in case the rubber is being degraded by the petroleum based oils I have put on the roof joints/hinges?
Also, the cabin lights don't always come on and I hear a loud clicking noise when I have the stearing wheel turned all the way to one side. The dealer dismisses my complaints and never fixes them. Ideas?

The noise you are hearing is coming from the hinge joints on the locking handles. If you open the locking handles and raise the top about a foot you can look at the hinges from outside the vehicle and see that chrysler once again screwed up with their parts and they dont work the way they should, I have noticed it more on the passenger side of chryslers than anything and all it takes is a hammer and punch to drive the hinge pin back into place but the problem is that this will not take care of the problem totally, instead it will mask the problem temporarily and then the noise will come back and you will have to drive the pin into place again. the dealership will not do anything about it other than charge an arm and a leg just for them to wait till you have your back turned to them and they will drive the pin in with a hammer just the same as you can for a temporary fix. not even purchasing a new pin will fix this problem it is just a problem that has to be lived with because chrysler is known for their crooked ways like this.

Ideas? First off the reason why the dealership dismisses your complaints is because they have issued a TSB (technical service bulletin) on these matters and they dont really care to do anything about any of it considering they are within their legal limits to not do so because of the TSB rather than an actual customer recall notice. As for as the convertible top goes with the squeaking, it is most likely the motor that is squeaking and there is nothing that can be done about it unless you replace either the motor or the bearings in the motor. the best lubricant to use on the seals is baby oil because it keeps the seals soft and pliable but also condition them to prevent dry rot. now the clicking you are hearing is the rack and pinion on the steering system because the make of the chrysler rack and pinion heats up due to positioning too close to the manifolds and can actually cause steering malfunctions and full loss of steering while driving. any other questions feel free to email me at daytripperkr682@aol.com. ryan

I have a 2004 sebring convertible with the cloth top. I have noticed it has some beginning signs of maring at the rear on both sides, above the rear windows. Actually it looks more like rub marks, but is damaging the top material. I had a Chrysler rep look at it and he says it is normal wear and tear. Has anyone else had this issue and did you get any resolving from the manufacturer?

They are replacing my top and said that Chrysler was aware of this issue.

I jus purchased a Sebring convertible and I am getting water leaking in from the top of all four windows. Is this a common problem? What can be done about it?

I have a 2005 Sebring with a cloth top. In August 2006 the top was replaced because of tearing problems above the rear pasenger windows and rub areas at lower corners of rear window. I have the same problem again and Chrysler has attributed the problem to normal wear. Last year the rerouted the wiring harness. My battle begins on 9/27/07 when I visit the dealership.

You need to replace weather stripping. Lou wrote: I jus purchased a Sebring convertible and I am getting water leaking in from the top of all four windows. Is this a common problem? What can be done about it?
