I own an 02 LXI w/the 2.7 V6 24valve. Are all the 2.7 engines 24 valve, or is there a difference? I'm beginning to worry, although I haven't had any problems. If you have, let me know.THANK YOU!
Well I have a 2002 with that engine and never had any problems it has about 82,000 miles on it. I was driving down the road and the engine killed. It's at the shop with a locked up engine. I just bought a new car and not sure what to do with that one. An engine replacement cost about $4000.00 or better and is very hard to find. I wish you all the luck but from what I found out and experienced, I would trade it in while it is still working. The 2.7 engines have major problems. My mom had an Intrepid and hers blew at 50,000 miles two weeks after mine.

Driving my 2001 LXI 2.7 V6 up the freeway. The oil light comes on just as I'm coming to my exit. Just as I get off on the exit, my car shuts off. I push it down the hill and get it towed. Total engine failure. Fantastic. Just got new tires and battery. Thanks Chrysler! After reading the comments here, I'm going to call around and see if I can scrap the thing rather than throw more money at this piece of crap.

I've had my 2001 Chrysler Sebring vert since 17 miles. It now has 194,000 miles on it. I still gets 30->31 MPG (checked with calculator and gas pump gallon reading)

The best advice I can give you is replace it with Mobile 1 5W-30 (syntehtic), and desludge the engine every 50,000 miles.

I've had the starter key switch go bad, starter motor, 6 wheel bearings, transmission hoses, bad envonrinmental fan controls, and 1 snap ring in the transmission. But for 194,000 miles I can't complain.

I read in a post that the timing belt tensioner gets weak and that makes the oil dummy light flicker at idle. Replacing this stops the issue.

I just bought a 2002 Chrysler Sebring convertible w/ 2.7 liter engine. I bought it from a dealership and less than a week into owning it, the oil light came on in while idling in traffic.
I added STP oil treatment to it and it stopped. Then a week later it was leaking fluids from the engine and the check engine light came on. I took it back to the dealership and they fixed a transmission leak that was $800+ dollars (which they paid for). The car only has 51,000 miles on it. After I got it back from the shop, it continued to leak, now both trans fluid and oil!!! Oh yeah, and the check engine light came back on of course.
The dealership originally told me I had a powertrain warranty up to 100,000 miles. What i wasn't told was I have to pay 50% of repairs if it's different than the original problem. Which it is...DO NOT buy one of these P.O.S.'s, trust me.

My 2001 has 129,000 and I do the same but with oil changes every 25,000 miles with AMSOIL (synthtic)

I have a 2002 sebring never had any trouble with engine. I was driving on the highway and engine killed. Engine locked up. I have 82,000 miles. I did have a loud squeeking noise in my wheels was told it was the struts. My mom had a Dodge Intrepid her engine blew 2 weeks after mine did the same thing she had 50,000 on hers. Chrysler needs to do a recall on those engines. My car is still at the shop. I just bought a new car. Any suggestions on how I can get any kind of money for this car? It's in good shape and fully loaded just the engine doesn't work! Ha
Junk. Never buy Chrysler.

Were there any other signs or anything my oil light has just started coming on im at 86,000 miles took to mechanic they said it was a sensor they guessed but werent for sure!!!!!!!! If you can tell me anything else please please do.
the 2.7 lit. engines are known for problems. the sensor could be bad and it is rather inexpensive to replace and you can see if it takes care of the problem but be cautious with that engine i would advice to sell any 2.7 engines. i am a dealer and buy cars from newcar dealers(trade-ins) and only buy 4 cyl. or 3.0 never a 2.7. a rplacement engine even a used one due to demand are very costly and you can not tell if that one is going bad as well.

I have a 2000 Concorde with 2.7 engine check engine light stays on code says engine misfire on #4 cyl i've changed spark plug, coil, wire. Light stays on idles rough but runs fine at higher revs.
Check the exhaust valve. My wife's '04 Sebring did the same and I changed all that stuff too, but did not fix it. Took it to a garage and they told me the #3 cyl. exhaust valve was burned. They wanted $1500 to fix it. Me and a buddy did it ourselves for less than $500. When you hook a OBD II computer up to it it will read "misfire" in whatever cylinder.

I have a 2001 Sebring convertible with the 2.7L V6 engine that just recently died after the timing chain broke. From everything I have read, this engine left the manufacturer with too hot of an engine temperature and the oil ports too small so that engine sludge builds up and the engine dies somewhere between 25,000-90,000 miles. Mine died at 62,000. Only two alternatives: drop in new engine or buy a new car. Waiting on Chrysler to advise why they never warned us and what they are going to do to make it right.

Yes i was driving down the freeway in my 01 sebring and i the cruise control on and while i was going up a slight incline of the road the vehicle began to shudder so i turned off the cruise control. After i noticed that the engine light had come one. But the vehicle ran smoothly. After stopping off at a friends and driving somewhere else the engine light turned off but after the returning to my friends the engine light turned on again and the vehicle begane to shudder while at a constant speed and once while accelerating. What is the problem?
