Does anyone know about a kit or place to have a tailgate modified to be automatic open and close?

Switch is usually defective. Unable to locate original part replacement. It can be replaced very easily with a $3.89 radio shack microswitch and a piece of plastic angle trim. The only tools required are a soldering iron, dremel and hot glue gun. This doesnt requuire removal of rear emblem. Just use dremel to slot top of plastic handle(just drop plastic cover inside for access). Slot the trim as well to fit the switch in it. There is a screw holding the back trim in place. Remove the nut and place the plastic angle trim under nut with switch in it and reinstall nut for rigidity and security. The whole process takes about 15 minutes and less than $4.50 in material if you have these basic tools. I hot glued switch in trim and to plastic handle. note the handle is plastic and is easy to work with dremel. Works great. Also note the soldering can be done where convenient if you use wire and end from original switch. Just plugs right in after swich installed.
