Not sure if anyone is still having errors with the "COdE" message appearing on the radio for the Honda Pilot (2001 or later), but I found a SIMPLE and FREE solution.

Visit this Honda site and they will guide you through the step by step procedure.

2004 pilot battery keeps dying. Have changed battery, alternator, grounding wire, yet if you leave the car overnight the battery dies. If you remove the negative terminal, it is okay in the morning. The dealerships states that nothing is showing as putting an extra draw on the battery- any ideas?
Hi Amanda:
My 2004 Pilot was the same way. Batteries lasted about 1 1/2 years. Dealer check turned out fine. After 3rd battery, they said it was the radio. New (refurbished) radio and new battery in 2008. Now the battery is testing bad per dealer note.

Don't mean to hijack your thread, but wonder what the dealer "checked"? Basically three areas to address on a problem such as this. 1, battery should be load tested. This will give an accurate report of it's condition. 2, alternator output can be tested under differing loads and speeds. 3, parasitic loads can be identified and measured. Every car has specific loads that are designed to be powered at all times, ie radio, ECU, security systems etc. Parasitic load is measured with a digital ammeter in series with the negative battery cable. If it's too high, you would pull the fuse for each parasitic load until the offending one is identified. It's tedious but not difficult. It's a shame your dealer can't/won't fix this.

I bought a brand new 2007 Pilot about 2 years ago. Late last year the glass of the passenger window behind the driver just slid down and will not go back up. I took it to the dealership and they replaced the motor that makes the glass go up and down. Yesterday, I had the same problem with the other back passenger window. Now the car is in the dealership again.

Is anybody having the same kind of problem/ What can I do?

Anytime power is disconneted from your Pilot the radio has to be reset with a code. Check the card that came with your manual. Somewhere in your paperwork should be a customer service number. Call them. You will have to give them your VIN number and they will give you a 5 digit code to put into the radio. Once you have done that your radio will work but you will have reset your preset stations.

Just bought a 2010 Honda Pilot...Only have about 350 miles on it, but I noticed while driving with the radio off i can hear a sort of low metal noise, almost like a piece of metal slightly hitting another piece at a very high rat eof speed. only happens above 20 mph and stops around 45 or so...any ideas from anyone? Thanks.

I used a 2005 Pilot to jump start a 2000 Accord yesterday (Pilot providing juice)

When I turned the Pilot on the next day the A/C and fan weren't working anymore. It's possible the A/C was on when I did the jump.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this before? Could using the pilot to jump-start a car damage the pilot?

Thanks

Could be a million things. Dealer would probably put the car on a lift while running it in drive. See if they can duplicate it.

Hope you didn't short or reverse the cables while jumping the other car. Back in the old days, all that would do is make a spark. With all the electronics today, that would be a very expen$ive mistake. Hopefully all you did was blow a fuse.

2003 honda Pilot. At 30mph, or at 50 mph, when coasting and RPM's are low (1300-1500) get a slight grinding noise that lasts for half a second, and keeps occuring every 5 seconds until speeds is increased, or gear shifts. Always goes away when dealership tries to diagnose it. When the sound occurs I get a blip in the RPM's too.
Wondering if it is a loose underbody engine panel that vibrates?? Does anyone know what I can do about this strange sound?

I also noticed the same problem on 2003 Pilot-Ex-l, did you find the solution to problem, I have showed to 2-3 mechanic no clue.

RE: HONDAS NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED BY FED. GOVERNMENT LIKE TOYOTAS!
Dear Fellow Honda Owners,
I own a 2006 Honda Pilot with Navi System and share your frustration about bizarre engine revving noises ... sometimes when SUV is idling.
Honda Dealerships gave us runaround and lies and said "nothing wrong with car."

I have a 2003 pilot, 77,000 miles and just got my third battery. The life on these is 3-4 years, i had the original one replaced in 2006. The symptoms were the same - suddenly wouldn't start for no reason, then it runs fine for a while. You jump it - no problem. A small use of battery - lights inside or cold outside, and it won't turn over. The dealer told me the battery was fine. I just replaced it anyway, and had no problems until now - about 4 years later.

I have had the same problem on my 2006 for two years. I have been to the dealer 5-6 times and they can not figure it out. Now out of warranty but is documented. If you have luck let me know. Thanks

I am in the market for a car - have test driven an 06 Pilot EX-L 4WD (CarFax one owner and it's a Certified Honda= 7 year, 100k mile warranty) and have a negotiated price with a local Honda dealer...just haven't bought it yet. Consumer Reports and all the others said the Pilot was one of the best, if not the best midsize SUV my money can buy.

There are 1302 posts as of today of people will downright ridiculous problems that seem to be common. Our other car is an 02 Toyota Highlander - the Topix page for that has a fraction of the posts and most people aren't complaining.

Can somebody set the record street: is the Pilot a piece of junk with quirky faults that's going to make my life insanity? This car is replacing a 99.5 Nissan Pathfinder with 198k miles on it that just started shifting rough - other than that and a few repairs that car has been bullet proof. Up until 2 months ago we were still taking it on 1000+ mile road trips with 100% peace of mind.
