Pumping the gas doesn't do anything on a fuel injected car without the engine running, so not sure what happened??

03 Pilot Tranny Failure
I have 88k on my 03 Pilot EXL-D and have had no mechanical or starting problems to date. A week ago the red engine "idiot light" came on and Honda informed me that I need to have my tranny replaced for about $6200. I currently own 3 Honda's so they offered to do it for $1650. I replaced the front brakes at 86k along with the original Michelins.
Our tranny was replaced on our 03 pilot ex which had about 88k on it. We paid about $900 of the replacement cost. Very dissapointed in Honda.

It could have been worse.....900 isn't that bad compared to what others on here have said.

Have a 2006 honda pilot 50,000 miles and engine light came on. Took it to auto zone and they said it was the ECM ignition off internal timerperformance problem. The computer.
Since that time the light has now gone off. Car never ran differently with the light on or off. Any ideas?

Not sure what internal timer the computer uses when the ignition is off, but it obviously cleared itself. Do you remember what the code was?

I've got 2008 Pilot EX-L for 2 years now. So far everything is fine. My major complain however is how long it takes for seats to get warm. Even on Hi I can only feel the heat at the same time when the warm air starts to blows through heating ducts. It takes around 8-10 minutes from cold start in sub-zero (Celsius). I leave in Toronto and winters are fairly cold around here but still. My old Grand Prix got seats almost instantly warm. Anyway my Pilot is still on warranty so I just wonder if this is a "feature" or just a problem to be fix.
Thanx.....

I have a 2007 Pilot with 44k. We ran some errands and then stopped for a DQ. For about 10 minutes had key, I thought, on Accessory but was possibly in "On" position. Went to start and it will turnover for two second then just clickclickclick. I am reading in this site that I need to get a jump and it will do fine until the next time. Any ideas?

By now, hopefully you got a jump and are on your way. Sounds like your battery needs a good long charge. Or, if it wont hold a charge, a new battery.

My 2003 Pilot is having a steering rack issue. Stiff/ and awkward steering on sharp turns. A mechanic says we should replace. Any ideas if this might be widespread?

How about the power steering fluid? Might be worth a fluid change first. Also, check the PS pump belt. Maybe worth doing both. Not expensive. Steering rack=expensive.

Honda Pilot 2003, starting issue.

Hi, I just purchased a Honda Pilot 2003, and it's running great, except for one intermittent problem at start up. Here's the description of my problem: usually to start it, I turn the key to the ''Start'' position for 1 to 2 sec. and it starts. But once every 3 to 4 startup, I need to hold the key on the ''Start'' position for 7 to 10 sec to start the engine. For me that's not normal. But my local Honda dealer is telling me that this is normal for that model and year.
My warranty is ending in June. What should I do?

Take it to a body shop. They should be able to get the panel off.

I have an 05 Pilot EXL, had it since new.
Excellent vehicle as far as comfort and functionalilty.

I've followed all maintenance by the book and here are the following problems I've had over the years. Currently the vehicle has 150,000km on it, Canadian climate.

1. Gas struts that hold up the rear lift gate went dead at about 65k,$220 bill
2. Short in the main electrical fuse/relay box under the hood. Approx 70k. Power to all accessories would stay on even when key is removed from ignition. This was a big one..first to figure out what the heck was causing the problem and 2. the $$$$. This was out of warranty by about 10k but spoke with Honda Canada direct and they agreed to cover the labour and I cover the part. Cost me $450 of a $1150 bill total.
3. Dead Battery, 90k,$100
4. Another dead battery 120k...Dealer could have pro-rated it but replace 100% warranty
5. Rigth front impact sensor (for airbag system).$260 total bill
6. Just yesterday...and the reason I was brought to this forum. The green D transmission indicator is flashing. My tranny fluid seems a little low so hopefully a top up will clear the problem. Most people find it's a temp or pressure sensor and about another 2-$300 bill. I'll add some fluid disconnect the battery to reset it and if the problem comes back guesse I'll have to take to the dealer to read the code.

Other than the above the vehicle is great and if you took a poll of other vehicles from Honda and other manufacturers you'd find they have their fair share of problems over a 150,000km drive time.

My previous (And best vehicle ever owned) was a 2002 CR-V. Racked up 150,000km in 3 years with not a single problem, simply regular maintenance...breaks, tires, oil changes ect...
Vehicle before that was a 2000 accord, racked up 100,000km in 2 years and only had to change a left front wheel bearing,$150.
Honda does make better vehicles.
My wife has a Pontiac Grand-Piece of Crap...Am...I mean. Don't get me started with that :)

Is your Pilot equipped with heated seats? If yes how long it takes for the seat to feel warm? Especially now when is cold?

I have a 2004 Pilot with 120K miles. Runs perfect. It just started to have a chirping sound when I go over bumps (big or small). It is a most annoying chirping sound. Have had to the Honda dealer twice and they finally told me that they would need it for 2 days, tear the interior out to hopefully find the cause...but no guarantee. I would hate to have to sell this vehicle because of some squeak that won't go away. The noise appears to originate back right. Doesn't seem to happen as much after rain. Anyone have any solutions? Thanks, Jim

Anybody ever check the struts? They have rubber bushings on them that after 120K could be done. You could squirt brake fluid on the bushings to see if it quiets it down, then replace whatever the bushing is on. Struts should always be replaced in pairs, or in your case (120K) all 4.(IF that's what it is).

Have they figured out the problem, Mine makes noise at about 46 MPH and the RPM at about 1000
By any chance, is there an aftermarket trailer hitch on the vehicle (I had an '05 Pilot EX with one, and it vibrated while moving, but with foot just keeping up the speed (not accellerating))? I don't have a solution if that's the problem, but that was apparently the source of it.
