My brand new 06 Pilot was in drive with the brake on & it started revving & lurched forward.
Anyone experienced the same problems.

We have an 2006 Pilot EXL AWD and have noticed that the engine rpms goes up to 3500 before the auto transmission shifts. The engine is pretty noisy at that level. The dealer tells us that this is normal, "it is a heavy vehicle". Everyone who rides in it says it shouldn't be like that.

I need some input from other Honda Pilot owners.

I have an 03 Pilot and it doesn't do THAT (rev high before shifting). What you have described is definitely NOT NORMAL, regardless of what the dealer may say.

Which is not to say you cannot MAKE it go to 3500 RPM or higher before shifting, but you have to lead foot it to do that. With the "variable valve timing and lift" (VTEC) the engine gets decidedly noisier when the cams switch over to their higher performance profile, but I don't recall that happening till around 4000 or higher (I do notice it when pulling our camper, if I use a heavy foot on the gas pedal).

Has it done that more than once? If so, I'd take it in. It doesn't sound normal.

i know what you mean, i have the same problem too, it takes time to accelerate, while revving up high, engine is noisy
its a 2006 model it should not be doing that.

I have an 06 Pilot which I bought in Jan. I am very disappointed with the rough shifting and hesitation at slow speeds (20, 30, 40, and 55 mph). I brought it back to the dealership--a mechanic took a test drive and assured me that nothing is wrong. However, when I go around curves, it hesitates and lurches as well as when it is shifting gears. I need to know if anyone else is experiencing this type of problem.

Check out this site; it probably explains your problem:

http://autonet.ca/Parts/Systems/story.cfm...

It's sort of like anti-lock brakes - the car is trying to drive for you, but you want to drive. It's hard to get used to, but that's just it - you're not used to it but it's probably not a malfunction...

Just bought a Pilot 2006 and it does not rev up that high. I assume you do not mean out of first gear? I will double check next trip out and let you know the RPMs.

I have a 2003 Pilot, about a year ago I started experiencing the following.
The Pilot would not start. It would just click as if the starter silnoid was bad, or sometimes it would not even click as if the battery was dead. I had battery and alternator tested and both checked ok. I replaced the battery terminals clamps and it seemed that problem was solved, but 2 months later the same problem habppen again. A simple boost and the Pilot started and continued to start for another 3 to 4 months and problem occured again. Had battery and Alternator checked and both checked ok. Has anybody experenced this?

I have an 06 also and noticed the rough transmission. Noticed it a few times when the AC was on and another time when I put it in reverse from park.

Hi Jeanette:

We bought a 2006 Pilot LX that has exactly the same problem described.
The car we test drove seemed alot better. We are going to bring this in for our first service - how are you making out with yours? This is a very aggravating problem and a dealer would have to be pinned dpwn before they doing anything deifitively....any insight would be greatly appreciated..

I just bought a 2006 Pilot 2WD EX. Everything is fine except I cannot shift down to D3 or second and first gear so when I am on a big downhill run I have to constantly step on the brakes. I have called the dealer and they said they will research it. Does anyone have a clue what is wrong with this car? Should I be very worried?

I have the same identical problem with my 2003 Pilot. Have taken to dealer on several times but they always states that everything is okay. Just took it in for smoke coming from intrument panel, don't know if this is related to past history or not. In the past, if I left the door open for 2 minutes with the inside lights on the battery would go dead, simply jump start would start immediately. I think there is a definitely a problem with the Pilot electrial system which the dealerships are not telling us.

We have a 2003 Pilot EXL, the interior is not very quiet. The windows make a slight rattling noise, and if we are going above 65mph, there is a wheezing sound coming through the windows. Has anybody else noticed this too?

I just bought a 2003 4WD pilot and it had the same problem. I was thinking of replacing the battery and terminal.

I have a 2004 pilot and have experienced the exact same thing as you. Dealer assured me there is nothing wrong but just like you it happens every couple of months or so.
