I remember we had Electric cars in the late 70s. We already went through this. The battery was the weak link. There was a fella that developed a revolutionary battery that was very efficient. G.M. bought him out to get RID of the technology It was just on Discovery channel 2 weeks ago. They also showed all the EV1 getting trashed. Site below shows some piles.
HECK in 2005 Gm Crushed NEW battery cars. So whats the 700 Million
If those EV1 electric cars had such great prospects for making GM a profit, why would they kill off its development??? GM developed the EV1 to explore its practicality and profitability potential, and when it was deemed too costly to produce and too unwanted by consumers, it was scrapped. If they had really come along with some great revolutionary product that was a surefire cash cow, it wouldn't have been scrapped. No major manufacturer has since come out with their own all-electric car. Wonder why?? But who are you to let logic and sense sway your opinion? You get what you want to know from Discovery Channel and your he said/she said acquaintences.

With this investment, GM has now sunk over $5.2 billion into the Volt. With only 40K sales expected this equates to $130K per vehicle.

Wow....

You don’t like the Volt, you don’t like GM, and you certainly don’t have anything positive to say. GM (again) comes to market with another technology advanced car that will revolutionize the green crowd.

Hey, if you are unable to carry on a conversation just say so. You know the Volt will be in showrooms. Personally I think you’re upset because Toyo is late to the game.

Toyota will actually benefit from the Volt coming to market. GM will increase awareness to alternative fuel vehicles, and when people realize the cost of the Volt along with the requirement to have a charging station (think renters, condo dwellers) then those turned off by the Volt will flock to the Prius.

Two fold –

A. You admit the Volt is coming.
B. Under the premise you mention, Prius will cannibalize the Toyota EV.

Cute

Toyota has plenty of customer lined up to offer both the Prius and the full blown EV. If there is one thing you choads have learned over the past few years, its that Toyota has a flawless reptutation that cannot be flawed by massive recalls, and millions of customers are lined up to purchase the next generations of Toyota's alternative fuel vehicles.

Incorrect, toyota sales are off dramatically due to the massive recalls. You must remember, Toyota is a global player and its sales are down 28%. Like I’ve said a hundred times, don’t go down with the ship.

Back on topic – It remains very good news that GM has decided to invest this money in the old Caddy plant.

Interesting "spin" (but not unexpected!)by JJ.
ALL automaker's sales are off "dramatically"--espe cially the Detroit Three.
Chrysler has really tanked, GM isn't much better, and only Ford showing some hopeful signs.
But JJFADS, true to form, only focusses on the one automaker he loves to hate with misinformation and alarmist rhetoric.
Hypocracy!

Wrong again (you’re wrong a lot). Hyundai continues to be up in sales. That one point alone proves your comment in error.
Further, Toyota should have picked up to 18% market share in NA with CFC and the horrible shape Detroit found itself in this year. No spin, just fact.

Hyundai has a loooong way to go to catch Toyota.
Your crystal ball is too far behind the power curve just yet, my son.
Stats like theirs look real good at first glance, but a percentage calculation based on a small starting point can be deceptive.(Just like you!)

Better bone up on your math skills sonny boy.

Hyundai still has a very long way to go to catch Toyota, no matter how you want to spin it.

So why don't you take a little of your own advice, and just "hold on now" yourself, before floating your outragious claims.

The only thing I can think of that justifies your irrational tirades against Toyota is that you really do have an agenda.

So why not show some integrity and just admit it.

The we can all go home and leave you to indulge in your fantqasies.
