OK. Now, I checked the brake fluid, and made sure that it was full. It was. The light is still on and it keeps beeping at me everytime I hit the gas. The brake pedal appears to be up all the way. Any suggestion?

It's probably something to do with your abs, sensors or one of your front hubs and bearings.

I can agree with Mike in his answer to check by replacing the bulbs to see if that solves the problem. My thinking is that its not that easy as the wiring system is completely different from older systems. Most or all control signals are through the BCM (body control module) The wirings now carry more than one signal which are analysed by the BCM and routed to the proper destination. This is where most elect problems arise as the BCM gets conflicting information and we end up with irritating glitches. I'm not sure about the 2007 Malibu but on the 98 Malibu there is a circuit board in each tailight which seem to cause these problems. I changed the circuit board and that solved my problem. Hope this helps.
Ha! Turns out it was the bulbs...there was a short in one or both of the signal bulbs, and replacing them fixed the whole problem! Go figure...

Where can I find a front passenger seat frame?
And how do I replace it? Mine is broken. Don't want to go through the dealership. 2004 Malibu LT. Love my car. I have only had maintenance problems except for the seat frame.

Auto wreckers / Re-cyclers are best bet. Mine are always wlling to give advice on how to remove / replace parts.
Even better ; take your tools and take it off yourself if they permit; you save money plus get small parts such as clips and bolts; any mistakes dont chew up parts of your car.

I have just replaced my wheel bearing on 03 malibu. This is the second time in just over a year. Is anyone else having problems with wheel bearings or could this end up being a bigger (and more expensive) problem or is it just something that is a continuous problem? Any suggestions? Also, is there an easier way to get the heat shield off and get to the thermostat other than taking the air box off and the exhaust cross over pipe?

2004 Malibu. If I lock the door and later unlock with the key, the alarm goes off. If I use the key pushbutton to unlock the door, the alarm doesn't go off???? Any ideas? Will lifting the negative battery cable reset the system and fix the problem?

Thought they had a timing chain; not a belt !!
(Only change chains if there is a problem.)

My 2004 Maxx has the turn signal issue on the left front. While getting that repaired, I found out the back disk brakes had 10% left on them, the fronts are hardly worn - estimated cost by the dealer $480. Current milage is 23,800 miles, no towing or heavy hauling. Is anybody else having brake issues? Any comments or solutions?
I had the same problem with both items mentioned on my 2005. Midas agreed to turn the rotors and the cost was $265.00. Now I believe the steering will go out soon. I will not renew my loyalty to chevrolet ever again.

Michelle, The wheel bearing thing is pretty common, you must purchase the better (or new) of the two after market bearings that are available, the cheap one won't last to the 12 month warranty period.

The thermostat is really not that bad a job, you don't have to take the heat shield off or cross over pipe like they say, you loosen the rear bolt (it has a slot in the housing not a hole for the bolt to go through) then remove the front bolt and the housing will come out of there, believe it or not.

Good Luck

My 2005 Malibu also has a turn signal problem. It works intermittently. I have changed the bulbs twice. Just going to deal with it considering I am now past my warranty. I also just had to replace the rear break pads and roters! The front if fine and still has a good eight months. The front sould have worn way quicker than the rear. You are not alone....just get your problems fixed before your warranty is up!! My problems stated at 37,000 miles.

hi, i have a 2006 malibu Lt (v6 3.5L)

i never had any problems at all except for a couple minor body issues. i took my car into to get the body work done on it and when they drove it out and parked it for me they turned it off and i came back to get it. well when i went back to get it the car wouldnt start, we made sure that it wasnt the gas there was plenty and not the battery. i had to have it towed to my house.
its still there...its been about a month and i cant for the life of me get it to work. The electrical system i think is the most likely situation but im not getting the passlock light like other people for 10 minutes. i checked all my fuses and there was one furl pump fuse blown..replaced but nothing. everytime i want to TRY and start it i need to have it connected to another car, otherwise no battery power at all...

anybody have ANY suggestions?

iit only has 42K miles on it so a fuel pump problem seems very unlikely...

any suggestions please write on here or email to jruizdesign@hotmail.com

thank you very much!

My 2004 Maxx has the turn signal issue on the left front. Current milage is 23,800 miles, no towing or heavy hauling. Is anybody else having brake issues? Any comments or solution. Im sure by now you probably know there has been a problem with rear brakes wearing out prematurely. I just had mine done (2005 Malibu) with 63,000 mi. No problem, however front brakes always need replacing before rears,so this is not normal. I also spoke to a party who had two rear brake jobs done in 18,000 mi. Sounds like brakes have not been releasing full after being applied. I had my brakes done at Pep Boys, cost with turning rotors was $190.00.

Besides my rear brakes wearing out at 63,000 mi I have had the clunking noise in the front end twice. Once it was the rack and pinion which was replaced under warrantee. Second clunking noise comes from the steering shaft, which I had my garage lubricate along with one of my regular oil changes. No charge!! Try that at your dealer. No way!! Who ever heard of lubing a steering column. Only other problem has been the signal light bulbs burning out and discoloring the headlight unit. Being past the warrantee period, I missed the free socket replacement, so now I just replace the bulbs as needed. Too late to save the lights from discoloring. In the future Ill be buying aftermarket units for $70 each. No point in replacing them with GM unit as the same problem will still exist ( bad bulb sockets). I bought American this time and have never had a foreign vehicle, but now Im starting to have other thoughts. Maybe this is one more reason GM is in such trouble.

Any welding on the body work ?
If so the shop may not have disconnected battery and / or blown electronics with welding current !
