GM investing $35 million in Detroit-Hamtramck plant to build Cadillac version of Chevy Volt

A four cylinder Cadillac with a battery. Is there really a fool's market for a $50K go cart? It could be way more than that. At this time, the price is too high to mention. These cars (Volt/Cadillac) cost too much of a premium for the "early adopter" joy that a few folks seek.

Reminds me of the Cadillac Cimarron, GM 8-6-4, GM diesels, and Vegas.

And don't forget the Obama push. But a Cadillac version just compounds the folly. It will be a glorified Volt, not a Tesla. There will always be people bleeding cash that have to have these things as a band-aid to their ego. The volume won't be profitable.

GM hopes they can re-skin a Volt at a reasonable cost and increase the volume of the Volt platform to work off some of the extreme fixed costs.

Now that the car companies are in the green again, they will go off focus and lose money in these area.
