I've been experience "ghost" electrical problems in my 2005 TB. I've noticed the lights sometimes go dim when the vehicle is not accelerating and bright when I am. Kind of like the belt is loose, but it's not loose. I can also hear an electrical noise at times. I'm afraid to take it in and find out. How did yours die Kristen? Battery go dead first?

I just found out that I have a bad bearing and my alternator has to be replaced on my 2005 Trailblazer. Last week I had to have it towed because it locked itself in park. Once they got it to the dealership, they had to replace the ignition switch.

Mike, I have 2005 tb I have noticed that the lights get brighter and then dimmer while driving. When you look at the volts on the dash board it's almost like yo-yo affect up down up down kind of like your flashing the lights. Taking mine to the dealers this week. My boss has 2005 TB did the same thing to him they put in a new alt. In his and he still has the same thing going on. Try turning the car off for ten seconds the restarting seems to stop the lights from flashing. But Chevy can't find the trouble,

WOW!!! I thought I was "seeing" things - hubby says I am crazy when I told him the lights were acting funky. Then.. last week it was making weird noises when it was idling.. I took it in and they said a bearing was bad and replaced the alternator. It's a 2005...

I have the same problem with my lights, and also when i slow down the engine revs up like if i stepped on the gas. it is very embarrassing, people in front of me think i want them to pull over so they keep hitting there brakes. One lady did pull over. This the absolute LAST Chevy i will ever buy. Tons of other things have went wrong also!! I could put it in the shop every month if i wanted too!!

As I read over all these other peoples posts ,
I see all the same problems that i am experiencing,
dealership tells me $500 to replace the alternator, and
will only guarentee it for 24 months, local trustworthy
parts store can get me one for under $200, with a
lifetime warranty, sure I have to do all the install
myself, but lifetime copared to 24 months? Has GM
addressed this issue at all to anyones knowledge?

I had my 2005 Trailblazer LT (11,000) in the shop last week because its lights dim at night. The Chevy dealer told me that they had run tests on the vehicle and were able to duplicate the problem. They checked all the bolts and wiring. Everything was tight and normal. They had talked with Detroit about this problem as well and GM confirmed that they have a problem, but it is normal! It is part of their electrical system and the way it runs "more efficiently". I am not happy regarding this and would turn the vehicle back in except that I own it. My 2001 Suburban has 72,000 miles and has never had a thing go wrong with it. What gives GM?

I have had my 2005 TB for 2 years, and have taken it in 3 times, and had the Alternator replaced twice. I'll be taking it in again tomorrow, due the diming/flashing lights, and whining noise. Same symptoms as before, Alternator again I'm sure. I am hoping to sell it, and never buy Chevy again. Very irritating!

Our TB 's headlights also flash but it is a few mins after start up. Other than that I love it! Ours is either an 03 or 04 not sure which. Ours is fully loaded and its black , they are a tough looking vehicle. I fell in love with it at first sight! lol

My 05 TB does the "flashing" effect at nights with the gauges going crazy. I was told by the dealership that I believe its the turning on of a 60A motor or fan (I have to find the paperwork for it) that causes the alternator to go awry. THere is no fix for it from what I was told.

I have the flickering light problem too. I had it to the dealer twice and they said nothing is wrong, but gave me a web page printout (which I can't seem to find right now)from a GM service bulletin telling then this flashing is considered normal. It's due to the tb running diagnostics on an air pump, and that's just how it works. I emailed GM and complained, and here's part of what I got back. The rest was just the usual "our customers are number 1" stuff that they obviously don't believe if they won't fix this obvious problem. Anyway, here's a quote from the email I got back from GM:

***** Begin quote
I found out that your TrailBlazer is equipped with an air pump that runs tests
for the first 30 seconds to 1 minute after start up. Some of those tests
involve electrical load testing which cause fluctuations that make the lights
flicker. That is why it is it is recommended that you let those tests run
before driving.
***** End quote

So, unless you get rid of your tb, you're stuck with the problem. The "solution" from GM is to start the car and let it idle for one minute or more before you drive. For me, this helps, but it does not eliminate the flashing.

I used to like GM products, but now I will not buy another one. How do I know there isn't this same sort of problem lurking in any other product I buy from them?

Hope this helps...
