I have the same problem. However I travel for work a lot and I am past warranty. I had Onstar preform a diagnostic and they said "yep, there is a problem with your fuel indicator". Got to love Onstar! I am taking it in next week but already dredding the $$.

We live in WV and vacationed last year in Myrtle Beach, SC. Our fuel gauge did the same thing on our trip. I took it to the service dept. and they had to order a sensor that goes in the gas tank for it. I hope you get yours fixed. I know its very aggravating. Hope yours is still under warranty. Have you had any major problems with your trailblazer? We have had ours in the shop so many times! And also, has your front bumper started looking odd yet, like it is rolled across the top?

My 06 Trailblazer with 40,000 has been showing no fuel when in fact it is full and my engine light comes on. Took it in to the local chevy dealer and they kept if 3 days and couldn't figure it out - charged me $120 to put in a new starter. Didn't solve the problem. In the shop again at a different dealer.

2006 Trailblazer Recently gas tank ran low and sensor came on. Now it sporatically reads different levels. I fill tank and sensor goes off like I am low.Did not start this until I ran fuel tank low. Goodyear Repair said it would cost $450.
I was told Trailblazers were known for stuppid things falling apart, otherwise very dependable.I think the guy jinxed me.

I have a 2006 Chev TrailBlazer LS - among other things, the gas level sensor went out (last year)- which causes the check engine light to come on - when I called the dealership to check on my warranty -(which had expired)- I was told..."Anything man made is subject to failure" and "I believe that I offered you the extended warranty" - My reply...."that's not what anyone with a fairly new vehicle want's to hear and instead of offering an extended warranty - you should tell buyers...it's required..because you will need it".

Anybody know if the fuek sensor problem is showing up in GMC Envoys?? Since they are very similar to Trailblazers it would seem like the problem should be found there too. If not, what was done differently in the Envoy????

Anyone able to respond to this????

My 2006 Trailblazer is right at 54K & this monring I was at a little under 1/4 tank. I FILLED it up and noticed 3 miles down the road that my gauge had started dropping (and went below its original starting location). On my journey to work (total 15 miles) I kept my eye on it and was extremely scared the entire time, of course thinking "Worst Case" scenario. All of the sudden it started going back up & in checking the range meter it read 340. So, I thought for one second that it was just a slight glitch, NOPE! by the tmie I reached my destination, it had hit rock bottom again. THIS SUX! My warranty just expired 4 months ago. WHY???Up to this point, I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS AT ALL, and have been pretty satisfied with my Trailblaze.
QUESTION::::Is any of your TRLblazers a 3 row seating???
Just tryin to find similarities.

Same problem with the fuel gauge and belt tensioner.. replaced tensioner myself.. $30 and haven't paid the $ for the fuel gauge yet.. about to pull a trailer from san diego to Va.. so I'll have to take it in I guess.. that way I can trust the other gauges during the trip.. mine is a 2006 EXT 3rd row seating.. saw other posts that say it was $700 plus.. They have to drop the tank..etc.. Have been waiting in hopes it would be a recall item.. I have extended warranty.. so hope it covers it...

I have a 2005 Trail Blazer and started having problems a few months ago. Called GM and they said there are no recalls on this part but looking on here I think that we all need to call and get the ball rolling it is definitely a problem.

Maybe Obama will give us a stimulus check so we can give it to GM.

2006 Trailblazers have an inherant problem w/ the in-tank level sensor , etc ... GM should have recalled this vehicle by now - it is frustrating for both owners AND mechanics ... it is obvious that a large portion of Trailblazer owner are having issuesrelated to fuel sensors and delivery - PLEASE GM - rectify this issue - any problem GASOLENE related should be a TOP PRIORITY !!!!

thank you , marc van oudt , mechanic

I'm having the same problem with my 05 Trailblazer. Fuel reads empty even after I fill up and the yellow light stays on. I use my trip odometor and fill up every 285 miles. I read somewhere that techron additive may fix the problem. Anyone know if this is true?

My trailblazer has the iddentical problem to several of the above. The first sign of trouble was when I ran the tank quite low and then filled it, but I also added a bottle of fuel conditioner. The gauge bottomed out immediately and stayed there until the tank was about 1/2 gone, then it resumed regular operation again until I refilled it. I called the dealership I bought it from but they said they had never heard of such a thing. Sounds like a lie to me considering the number of posts in many forums. Yep, I'm dreading the $$ too.

I think itís time for people to get together in a larger group and present a more formal complaint to GM.

I am more than willing to organize if there is enough interest.

I can be contacted at shane@transservco.com
