Took my 2005 TB in to the dealer and what I thought would end up being a $600 to fix because they do have to drop the tank - the dealer said it was being fixed as "good-will" from GM at a cost of $150. I'm good with that!

I own a 2005 chevy trailblazer and it is junk. Fuel system is all messed up and GM needs to recall these vehicles.I have already invested a lot of money on this vehicle with all its defects I have had. Not happy with GM!

WOW!!! I had no idea that THIS many people had a problem with this!!! How can they not have a recall???? It's a KNOWN problem, and if THIS many people are having the same problem then obviously, it's something bigger than just one or two here and there.

Mine just happened last night, I was on E, filled it all the way up and the gauge didn't move. Then this morning, it went up to full and I thought, ok, must have just been a fluke, but then as I was driving it just went all the way back down to Empty.

There is no way I am paying 400, 600, 900 bucks to fix this. I am so furious after reading of how big of a problem this actually is, I can't even believe it!

Could you be more specific? All of us on here would like to know who to contact at GM to get this good-will gesture for ourselves. My dealer said he never even heard of this problem.

Just received a letter from Chevy this morning that says Chevy will pay half the cost to have it repaired at an "authorized" Chevy dealership. You have to sign a form that says you agree to the deal. Now I don't know about you but to me that is a blatant admission of guilt. Why they don't just recall the electrical bundle is beyond me -the it has been a major problem for years on these cars. My experience is as follows: first the speedometer went out - now i use my gps as a gauge to how fast I am going. Next, my fuel gauge died on me -luckily the odometer still works and when I hit 250the miles, I fill up. Now I am worried the oil and ampage gauges will go out. Another worry I have that I have seen on the complaint blogs is that the heat pump will expire as well. I am considering taking my 2005 Trailblazer LT EXT to carma* and getting a Ford Expedition. I do know that I will probably never get another GM car again.

Just got a letter from GM saying they will pay 50% of total cost for authorized Chevrolet dealer to repair this condition within a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles. Take your vehicle or receipts if you already had this fixed to a GM dealership.

I am personally holding out my repair for a 100% recall.

I shouldn't have to fork out $.01 for GM using faulty equiptment.

I have a few yrs and few thousand miles to hold out.

I've been having the same issues with the fuel level sensor for several months. I found if I don't completely fill the tank the gauge registers fine. Thankfully I have the Driver Information Center that registers how many gallons of gas I've used so I feel a little more comfortable with not fixing the problem. I, too, received the letter today and after reading it found it said they will pay 50% if it is currently a probelm OR happens within 10 years or 120K miles. The dealership told me it was not covered since I have 138K miles so I called GM who agreed the letter was poorly worded and that they would look into some sort of charity claim. I'm anxious to see what they come up with. The number to call if you want to try to get help is 800-222-1020. Good Luck to All!

I am having the same problem with mine. Is there a recall on this? Why should we have to pay for it if it is happening everywhere?
there is a recall..GM is offering to pay half to replace defective sensor...50% when it's their lack of quality control

There is a recall where GM states in a pre-sorted standard mailing(for those not familiar this is not 1st class mail but known as "junk mail")that there may be defective fuel sensors or sensors that wear out prematurely..however,they are "so kind" as to offer that they will pay 50% of repair. The part costs $100-140 dollars but GM charges close to $500 to fix and I imagine that does not include tax and labor...so when they 50% who are they blowing smoke at? They should pay 100% since it's the usual quality control,"make the car with the cheapest parts around syndrome" Memo to self...buy a foreign car and stay away from American cars. They need to de-computerize these cars to pre 1978 levels.

Half of those marked up parts and labor they are still making huge bank...and thats BS. Plus have read that alot of guys replaced theirs and a yr or so later they quit again. Hold out til enough people bitch and get it done for free!!

I have a 2005 Trailblazer, my fuel light stays on and gauge stays on empty, my battery gauge also quit working and the tach works when it wants to. I got a letter in the mail yesterday from GM stating that if your vehicle is experienceing the fuel issues that they will pay 50% of the total bill, but the work has to be done at a certified chevy dealer. In my opinion they need to fix it for free, but I guess them paying half is better then not paying nothing.

I got the letter today, also. I sent them an email stating my opinion that they should cover 100% when they put a defective part in their vehicles. I'm sure they will be inundated with these types of emails or phone calls - maybe they will offer more.

Where did you send your email to? I would like to join you. My gauge went out 3 days after I got the letter!! In these times who can afford to pay 50%!! What will it take to get these fixed ?? an accident in which someone is killed beacuse they ran out of gas????

Have to agree about GM paying 100%. Looks like they are just trying to dodge the bullet with the 50% offer when they really should be paying the total bill plus fixing all the other electronic crap that is busted, ie speedometer, gauges, etc. Hope they have used better parts on their new models. If not, they may as well go bankrupt and hang it up for good. Every time I read these posts Ford and Chrysler sound better to me!!!

Good luck everyone; keep on their butt!
