Fuel level sensor is going bad. Dealer wants over $490+ tax to replace. I can get part between $100-$140.00. Is this a difficult job to take on myself?

I am having the same problem with mine. Is there a recall on this? Why should we have to pay for it if it is happening everywhere?

Our '06 TB has the same issue, we have the extended warranty, so I hope it is covered.

The fuel sensor level replacement part can be purchased from GM direct (not the dealership) for half the cost plus shipping. The labor to replace it varies by the hourly rate.

The part costs about $70.00 directly from GM

How do you go about ordering directly from GM.

Same problem with the fuel sensor. This is absurd. I just got it replaced last March 07. Make me wonders if GM knows something and not telling anyone.

My '05 TB started having problems about 8 months ago, and finally gave out about a month ago.....and yes, it is infuriating. I have to go by how many miles are on the Trip Odometer.

We have the same problem with our 2005 TB. What is going on here? How difficult is the unit to replace yourself?

If GM won't issue a recall is there a way to petition the Better Business Bureau or a consumer affairs office to file a complaint. With the way things are going for them right now I don't think they can use more bad publicity showing they make cheap parts and then overprice for replacements.

Hey Darrin,

If you call Chevy and report the issue, they give you a reference number. If they receive enough complaints on the issue, they will do a recall. I have already reported mine. I have a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer.

I have a 2005 Trailblazer with the same issue. I called Chevy and was told it was not covered under warantee and also that it will not be recalled. They also stated that it would cost me $1000 to fix. My lease is up in 6 months and I'm debating whether or not to get it fixed at my local shop before I turn it in. I am wondering if I should trade the truck in without getting it fixed??

HEllo all, I have a situation with my TB 05, my fuel level sensor, this started 2 weeks ago after I fueled my tank and it was giving me the empty light and the tank was full. If anyone knows where this part is located please let me know, so that I can check and see if is possible to do it myself.
