My oil presure gauge started acting strange. At speed it holds steady at the correct pressure, but at idle but at idle it fluctuates between zero and the correct pressure. I had the oil pressure checked. It was fine. I replace the oil pressure sending unit but that didn't eliminate the false readings. Might it be the connecter that attaches to the sending unit? Any ideas?

Thanks

This just started with my 2002 trailblazer. I'm about to be charged $80 to have the oil pressure tested manually. Did you ever get a response?

The whole instrument cluster is junk as far as I'm concerned. I have issues with the tach and speedometer. The guage itself is probably at fault.

Stella - I never found out anything useful. I had the pressure checked before replacing the sending unit. I'll replace the connector and if that don't work just ignore it for a few more months then get a new truck. Since, I've had to get a new gas tank, head gasket, whole new head, etc...feel like the truck is a ticking time bomb.

I just had the whole cluster replaced, 800 bucks later and my oil gauge is also all over the place in my 03 trail Blazer

Mine just started randomly doing this about a month ago. I first noticed the "Check Gages" light coming on, and then the other day, I was actually able to see which gage was triggering the light. The light basically only flashes on then off and the oil pressure gage goes almost to zero then immediately back up to normal. It will just randomly do it throughout the day. I am calling Monday to the Dealership to make an appointment to get my oil changed and have that light checked out. If I find anything out, I'll be sure to post it.

I am having the same problems with my 2004 Cheverolet Trailblazer. First the odometer began to fluctuate and now my oil pressure gauge is at 100%.

Just wondering my traiblazer started having the same oil pressure problem at the gauge did any one have a answer given to them at the dealership, maybe a faulty cluster?

I have a 2002 Tralblazer RTZ and the gauge just started randomly dropping to 0 when the engine is at idle speed. When I hit the accelerator, the pressure returns to normal. The "Check gages" light and the "Stop Engine" computer message comes on when the pressure drops. I checked with the local dealer and they were not aware of this problem. Also, there has been no recall from GM on this problem.
Does anyone have an update on this?

Hey Guys, I have a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer also. I have the same exact problem. Oil pressure drops to zero then back up during idle. Sometimes it stays there until I press the accelerator on idle.

I changed the oil pressure sending unit with a new one from Autozone auto supply, that seemed to fix it for a month, but now it's back again. Is there a way to change the wire harness that connects to the oil pressure sensor?

So I see the post about Oil pressure gague. I have replace my cluster solved odometer and Tach problem. I had the oil prssure cluster tested it was okay. So I looked into replacing the oil pressure switch, but was told it was the oil pump about $1,000. Of course I do have 200,0000 miles on this baby but I dont want to get rid of it. what do you guys think

This is most likely the usual problem with these Trailblazer instrument clusters where the gauges start dying one by one, usually the speedo or tach go out first but not always. Check this page for more on how to get it fixed - http://drspeedometer.com/services-i-offer/tra...

The Trailblazer oil pressure gage is BS. There is a switch that tells the PCM that oil pressure dropped udner 16psi... but no pressure sensor. The gage is positioned per rpm by the PCM using a stepper motor.
When the switch trips, the PCM drives the faux pressure gage needle to zero. This why the needle jumps between 0 and 40.
Install a real pressure gage and you can ignore the idiot light.

My 04 pressure guage was working fine, now as soon as you accelerate it goes to 100% oil is fine and has been changed regularly, any ideas?

My 02 model oil pressure sensor was replaced to fix this zero drop of oil pressure indicator at idle position. Still the problem exist. The local mechanic could not repair it computer doesn't show any issues. Don't know what to do....any clues is appreciated.

I bet the noise I hear is the stepper motor--the noise only occurs when the guage is going waco.

I have 2005 TB and the samething is happening. I hear a noise when the oil gauge drops to below zero, seems like the engine is running harder. I have replaced the oil pressure sensor and no change. Anyone have recommendation for what to fix next?

My oil pressure gauge works only once in a wile
sometimes it will burry itself to the high end and beyond, or read 0 Then the tach will do the same ,all the way around to the right or read normal .I changed Battery and no differance :(
I like the little gas hog but i have under 80k on the 04. Maybe they done did better on newer ones and there hopping this will all go away ?
