Just got a letter from Chevrolet, But I don't have a problem , They are admitting they have a problem with the sender wearing out ,we're supposed to bring the truck to Chevy to get fixed and Chevy will reimburse us 50% on the repair!! This is complete BS !! They should let us bring the car to any service repair shop we choose ,we can get it repaired for less then they are offering !! This should be a free recall !!! Chevy engineered the car and the parts, they are liable !!!

I have had the same problem! This is the SECOND time my gas gauge has messed up. The first time it was covered under warranty. After the warranty ran out, it messed up AGAIN!!! I have had NOTHING but problems with this car since I drove it off the lot BRAND new!!!! I think Chevrolet should cover the cost for replacing it. I had to pay $120 (my portion) to get it fixed last week. I also have problems with the speed odometer. It works sometimes and then sometimes it doesn't. I have a 2005 TB and the radio hasn't worked in 3 years. The lights flicker but yet they say that is normal. I've NEVER had a car to do that and it be "normal". I will NEVER EVER purchase a Chevrolet. My husband has a 2005 Z-71 and the transmission skips (and has since he bought in BRAND NEW) but they say that he will have to pay for that to get fixed! Absolutely ridiculous!!! I HATE my Trailblazer. I've never owned such a POS!!! 2005 must have been a bad year for Chevrolet. I know it was a bad year for me to purchase my car!!!! I can see why the discontinued the TB

Ihave a major problem with my 2002 trailblazer ext. Every time I put fuel in it it will show I have gas until I actually start the vehicle then it will read empty or Low fuel. I also have a service enginer light and my speeedometer will say 0 mph whether or not I am in teh city of driving down the highway. Other times it will say I am two 20 mph or other inaccurate speeds with the message "low fuel message" even after topping the tank off.

Is this related to the fuel pump, filter system recall or is this another problem. We just purchased this vehicle and am afraid it is out of warranty.

Just got my fuel sensor fixed at Chev. My cost was $200 because of the recall. The reason I got it fixed is it would not pass the smog test as Chev has somehow tied the smog into its fuel sensor and it cannot be bypassed (according to the garage that smogged my car. Chevy should fix the fuel sensors for free - but I'm quite sure they will never do the right thing. P.S. It is wonderful to have a working gas gage again:)

It's strange because I bought a new gas cap and have to put at least 1.00 in it just to find out how much i have. I've also seen it rise and lower periodicolly but mostly it goes right to empty. i am not getting any answers either. let me know what you find out if anything.
GMCchevy has a recall on this they will pay half I have the same problem

My wife's 2002 Trailblazer has been a good automobile but being 10 yrs old now an occasional issue shows up. Like right now I'm having the "Service Engine Soon" issue and that's why I'm here, but back to my story ... A while back the instrument cluster panel guages went berzerk, gas hand went completely around the guage to the needle stop and refused to move; speedometer did the same, but when the rpm & temp guages started acting up I went surfing on the internet. I found that GM was using bad stepper motors and defiantly refused to replace/repair these bad clusters. So I found a guy up in Minnesota who changed out all the motors with newer ones; changed all lights, cleaned and returned the panel to me for $70.00. It's going on 2 yrs now and my instrument cluster guages are still working fine. Don't know if fuel guage problems would be corrected by replacing the stepper motors tho as I did not experience the "fuel light" issue. But if 2 or 3 of your cluster panel guages are acting up - you should give this a try. It's not hard to remove the cluster panel and it doesn't change your odometer reading. You should NOT drive the vehicle while the cluster is out tho. All that being said --- my next car won't be a GM product.

I bought a 2007 Trailblazer 2 years ago. Just started
having the same problem a couple of days ago. I put
gas in last night and today it said I needed gas again.
I literally watched my digital gauge go from 88 down to
31 within 1 mile of driving. Then it will go up a few miles.
Very frustrating. Wanted to find out if you got any news on what
to do.

I have a 2006 GMC Envoy; I bought with 46,000 miles on it. I am so aggravated with GMC and their tactics to resolve issues that are clearly their fault for putting faulty pieces and parts into a car and not taking responsibility for their mistake. Every light in my 2006 Envoy goes on and off all the time and honestly I've gotten to the point that I don't pay attention to it anymore! Then we received a letter from GMC stating that they will pay 1/2 for a "faulty fuel level sensor", FAULTY?? I didn't buy a car with FAULTY parts if they are FAULTY it's because you put them in FAULTY, why am I responsible for that or anyone else for that matter..?? To me if you put something FAULTY into a product it's your responsibility to FIX IT not mine!!

My husband is out of work and we’re trying to make ends meet and I have a car that I'm riding around in a car and I have no idea how much gas I have. I am driving on major highways all the time and my car has died 3 times so far the last being a very dangerous and scary situation. I also have two small kids, if anything happens to me or my family while I'm driving and my car dies in the middle of a highway trust me GM this won't be the last time you hear from me. It's very dangerous driving in a situation like that. I was on a highway with NO SHOULDER and my car died... THANK GOD I found the only SMALL shoulder by an exit ramp I past to swerve over to. Other wise I could have been killed. I was on this little shoulder and was still scared because of all the tractor trailers flying by me...

Not sure why there has not been a TOTAL RECALL on this because someone is going to get hurt or killed. Why can't the government see this.. They are next on my e-mail list.. GMC Stand by your customers and product and FIX IT... Not for 1/2 for free it's your fault were having this issue!

If GMC can't take responsibility for the issues their cars are having due to their incompetence I will NEVER and I mean NEVER by another GM Product EVER and make sure no one else I know does either... No wonder why people by foreign cars at least with all the issues everyone else has had I have to respect them for standing up to their name and correcting it. No GMC wants to send a letter in the mail stating they know there is a Faulty piece that was put in the cars and they will fix it but only pay have or only for the part not for the labor? Are you kidding me.... What kind of service is that? We all bought cars in WORKING condition assuming all the parts were legit not faulty or bad!!

Also GM don't forget who BAILED you out when you were going under.... that's right TAX PAYERS! Is this what we get in return after purchasing your product? We'll I hope you go under again and guess what you will NOT get another bail I can assure you on that. Millions of people are barely trying to make ends meet and half don't have jobs and you want them to pay yet again your screw up... Classic

I fully agree with everyone else
"If GM cannot stand behind this obvious safety Issues with failed fuel gauges I can't stand behind them anymore!! I’m all for “Buy American” to stand behind my country and keep Americans working. If I do buy American again I can bet it won’t be a GM car…

Hi - I have a 2007 Trailblazer. The other day I pulled into a parking lot, and noticed that my fuel gauge read "Empty". I thought this was strange, since I had just put gas in. As I watched, the gauge began to rise, and after about 30 seconds was back where it should be. This has happened two more times since then.
I thought about taking it in for repair, but since I had no waring lights on (Check Engine, etc), I figured nothing could be done unless it happens to be malfunctioning when I take it in.
Has anybody had this problem, or does anybody have any ideas about getting it fixed? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
The exact same thing has happened with my 2007 Trailblazer. From reading posts seems like a recurrent theme.

Same problem on a 1997 blazer & now a 2007 Trailblazer. Why won't GM address issue?

My 2007 Trailblazer started doing this about 3 months ago. Same exact problem as everyone else. I just reset my trip counter each time I fuel up, so at least I know how much gas I have left (within a few gal., anyway). There is no way I'm paying for something that is a GM defect. Since this is more of an annoyance (alarm dinging) than anything actually mechanical, I guess I'll just put up with it until I decide to get a new car. And, the new car will not be a GM!!!

our 2006 malibu has acted similar, except last night we checked how much gas was left. It said 176 miles, yet 10 miles down the road the car died! Had to get gas before it would start. could it be possible that it is caused by a clogged fuel filter? We added 10.00 worth of gas, and the car started up.

The thing is you have to get the gas gauge fixed so it will smog...somehow it is connected. I will never buy GM again...I despise them. Cheryl I agree with everything you said and you said it so well...how do we get GM to read these comments. I gripe at my local dealer whenever I can. As a matter a fact, I recently drove onto their lot and when approached by salesmen...laughed in their face and said "Yeah, no way am I buying a car from Chevy/GM buh bye now!"

ITs an old problem. Chevy fuel guages are built in with pump and go out. It happen on my 2000 Silverado and my 2007 trail blazer. You think after all this time they could figure it out.
