Transmission in my '03 Trailblazer dead

I have a 2003 chevy trailblazer EXT LT. It just turned 148,000 miles. I was driving 50 mph and it was as if the transmission was put into neutral. There were no noises.
The only noise I've heard during the past few days is a tapping sound in the middle of the dash. I was wondering if there was something electrical, maybe with the knob that controls 4wd 2wd, that would cause the transmission to remain in neutral or not to engage 2wd or 4wd.
It runs fine, it just won't move.

Pleas help. Have a 2002 Trailblazer that has developed a problem shifting from first to second gear. The trans will shift without a problem but only after reving up to the high end of shifting speed or if i let off on the gas it will shift no problem. No other issues, noise etc. I heard it could be the clutch fan with some kind of shifting solenoid that allows it to shift when reaching a certain speed or rpm. Also heard somthing about a trans modulator. Any help greatly appreciated.

We have a 2004 TB with 70000 plus miles. We had the same problem and it was the transfer case. A rod and retainer clip had broken inside the transfer case . The transmission was not a problem at that time. We had a transmission place do the repair for about $400.

Seems to be a flimsy design. The repair shop did a tack weld on the new clip so maybe it will last.

Now 8 months later we are having the no reverse problem. Transmission shop says we need to replace or rebuild.
Why does GM make such junk.

We bought a 2003 trailblazer with 98,000 miles on it. drove it one year and during this year, the transmission would give problems changing from second to third. If you hit the gas or backed off, it would change. My wife got in it today and it wouldnt change from second to third at all. Couldnt drive over 35-40 cause of rpms. I have heard and read many complaints about this same thing on this model/year Trailblazer. Why wont Cherolet recall, and fix the problem. I have read and heard of hundreds of complaints of the exact same problem.LAST Chevrolet I will ever own!!

My '03 Traiblazer's transmission died at 239,000 miles! You read that right ... It is a 4x4 and I've pulled all types of trailers over the past 9 years. Sorry to those who have had a early bad experience with their transmissions. Now, the question is do I get the transmission rebuilt with the auto value at $6000?

I have a 2002 TB that jumped out of gear when starting away from a traffic signal. Popped into Neutral and hissed for a second, then a loud whining noise. Shifted into neutral and coasted into the gas station, put it in park and turned it off. When I turned it back on, it made a terrible grinding/squealing sound and will only move in 1st gear, no reverse at all. Anybody else had this problem?

I have a 2003 Chevy trailblazer and the transmission went out of it about a week ago it does shift into reverse 1st and second but won't shift into third there is no discoloration in the transmission fluid but it is dark wondering if a transmission flush would work to cure the problem.?

(Stuck in snow) I have a broke 04 Ext. It seems all gears are neutral. When it broke down it was surely warm but there was no slip clunk or smell it is directly on mark for fluid. What are some things I can check into as why it won't move?

To Need_help256 and Chris:
Just got the call from the shop I took my 03 Chevy Trailblazer LTZ 141,000 mis to yesterday- they said dark fluid due to clutch parts breaking- component slipping which they say are signs of hydraulic failure. My symptoms were just as yours. Cure is new transmission.
