i also have this problem the engine dash lights come on for a brief period then go out. the engine cranks over but won't start. it also sounds like some type of rotation going on in the dash such as a relay opening?

had the same problem, also cuts out when driving, its the ignition switch, small item that costs about 20 in UK, they are prone to going often, its only the small box, not the whole lot, you dont have to replace the key section

I had this problem just last night! It stranded me in a town over an hour away from home! No warning signs. It's been a great vehicle, then it wouldn't turn over when I went to go home last night. Sometimes when I'd turn the key, it wouldn't even make a sound, it was completely dead. It's had a new battery and everything....Hopefully the ignition switch is it and it's cheap to fix. Especially since I have to pay $150 to tow it back to town!!

I had a similar problem that turned out to be the starter. The car did not turn over but would start fine later.

My trailblazer won't start. When I turn the key it is making a clicking sound and the dash lights are going crazy. Does anyone know what this problem may be. Thanks Farrah

It could be the ignition switch or cylinder. It's costing me 280.00 for both to be replaced.

I am having similiar problems - out of the blue just around the corner from my home my 2003 trailbalzer came to a dead stop - it would not start not even turn over but all lights were & still are functioning so I know it is not the battery. I have even tried to start it since letting it sit a couple of days but nothing and it will not shift gears. A mechanic in the family says it sounds like the ignition module/switch but I have to wait till he has some free time to check it out & repair it. I will keep you posted. From all that I am finding by googling this it seems to be a common problem & there are situations exactly like mine.

The throttle body gets dirty and causes the engine to stall. Remove it and use some gunk off cleaner to get rid of any carbon deposits. I had to do that to my gf's 03 TB and no issues since I cleaned it. Also, there was very little carbon deposits that caused the problem.

Having the same problem with an 02' TB. Most of the time it runs fine, and sometimes is just cranks and sputters. Let it sit for 30-40 minutes, and it starts fine. I've replaced the fuel pump, ignition relay, cleaned the Throttle Body, still no fix.......

I just started having this problem also. I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer which I purchased in Nov and a few weeks ago, I went to start it &nothing. AAA came and said it was bad battery and replaced it, it started, but the following week, the same thing happened. All lights, radio, windows, etc work, but it does not make any sound of even trying to start. This has happened 3 times, took it to a mechanic, but he didn't know what the problem was either and had to go out of town for a few weeks so I had to pick it up and have been driving it daily, but I'm nervous to turn it off. When it starts, there is no hesitation, fires right up, but 3 times it did nothing, but started later in the day or the next. Any help would be appreciated!

My first tip would be to open the hood of your Chevy and check for loose connections to the battery or corrosion on the connections. Clean the battery and tighten the connections as needed. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position but do not start the car. The dashboard lights should be on. If they are not, the battery is drained or dead and will need to be recharged or replaced.

If that's not the caes, then turn the key to start the car and listen to any noises the Chevy emits. No noise indicates a problem in the ignition. A clicking noise indicates the starter is faulty. If you hear a knocking noise coming from your engine, your fuel line, or a component thereof, is affected. In many 2003 models, a recall was issued for a faulty "O" ring on the fuel filter. This can cause a fuel leak. If fuel is leaking, the pump cannot supply the car with fuel properly, causing the engine to not start.

Did you check your fluid levels? The lack of fluid or low fluids can cause your Chevy to seize and not start properly. It also can cause extreme damage to your engine should you be able to start your car and drive in that condition. Check the gas gauge on your Chevy and add in a gallon of fuel. Watch the gauge to see if the fuel level changes. Chevy issued a recall on some 2003 SUV and pickup trucks for a defect that causes a punctured fuel tank even in small frontal impact accidents. If you have been in a small fender bender, you may be leaking gas, which will affect the ability of the car to start as well as become a fire hazard.

If all else fails then at least it has lasted longer than most Trailblazers. It seems 4 years is the national average before it encounters repetitive problems requiring major repairs.

Hope you were able to fix it. It's a tough economy and I myself won't be buying a more current vehicle soon.
