key fob transmitter AKA the remote

I have recently purchased a 2000, 1500 Z71 silverado... I need the information on how to program the remote for the alarm system... the dealership wanted 40 dollars to program the remote. If anybody has information about this subject please let me know. thanks..

I believe these are the correct instructions for your vehicle. Try it and see if it works:
To program your remotes do the following with the doors closed and the truck off:
1. Turn the ignition on and off three times (without starting the truck).
2. Press the unlock button on the drivers side door. You should hear the locks cycle (lock and unlock). If not repeat step one and try the lock button.
3. Press the lock button on the remote. You can program up to four remotes while you are in programming mode. When you turn the key on, you will exit programming mode and your remotes will be programmed.
