I have a 2002 S-10. I put new spark plug wires,
New plugs, New Distributor cap and Rotor on, about
2 months ago. It ran alright until the other
day. I went out to start it, The truck didn't want to turn over. It rain the day before, so I pop the hood, and left it sat for about an hour.
I tried to start it, and it still didn't want
to start, but finally it started.
It did the same thing, the next day, but it didn't
take as long to start. I don't know what is goung on with it?

My 97 s-10 4.3 won't start . The dashboard lights don't come on when the key is turned to crank it. Ocassionally the dash lights will come on and it's the ony time it will start. Replaced the crank sensor, distributor, spark plugs and hi-performance wires, the fuel filter and the thermostat. It ran fine, now it has the symptoms described

I have a 1998 GMC Sonoma with 4.3l Vortec... I was driving it to work one day and the truck just died while driving down freeway at about 60 mph. All the gauges reset and truck just started back up and kept going (it's a 5 speed). It drove fine for a few weeks then same thing happened. It is starting to do it more frequently but then it wouldn't just start back up from rolling you would have to push clutch in and turn key to get it to start back up. Yesterday it died and it wouldn't start back up it just kept turning over but wouldn't start. After trying to start truck for 15 minutes (key on and off) it finally started back up. You can hear the fuel pump when turning key on and off ~ any ideas I'm at a loss of where to begin??? Thanks

Changed fuel or fuel pump? If you are lucky it could be the fuel filter, but when mine did what you described it was the fuel pump.

I'm posting my recent experiences with my 98 S-10 4.3 in hopes it helps others.
At first it would only start when it wanted to. I thought a general tune up would do the trick, instead it was the fuel pump. A few days later it died and I found it was the distributor cap from Auto Zone (get OEM cap). Not long after that the new Crank shaft sensor went out (Auto Zone again).
Recently the S-10 wouldn't start in high humidity/rain. It was the distributor cap again. I went to Car Quest and got another. Works fine now.
If you want more details of the horror story let me know.
