Hi, I just got done replacing my heater core in my truck. Got it all back together and I still have no heat, all the hoses are hot, fluids are good. I also replaced the T-stat and "burped"it. As far as I can tell the vents are moving. Any help out there?
Thanks

I am having the same problem. I haven't replaced the heater core yet, but I will let you know when I fix it. I think it might be the control on the dash.

my fiance works at an auto wreaker and has told me that there is a very common problem of the fan clutch going ... also in my s10 1 and 2 don't work on the dash controls. I have to replace mine to get it to work again ... these 2 things could be the problem

I am having the same problem I changed the t-stat took the hoses off the heater core and ran water through it. The heat worked for about 20min then slowly got colder then quit. Also whats burping and how do you do it?

I have a 98 s-10 with the 2.2 vortec and i had the same problem. it ended up being a problem in the collant return line out of the heater core. i took it off, cleaned it out and the heater works fine.

I've got a 2000 4.3 with similar problems as above. I had a massive air lock in mine. This was after 2 t-stats and water pump change... Put a schrader valve in a T at the heater core outlet. It worked well for a couple days, then nothing at all. I'm thinking heater controls now. All hoses are hot, it is circulating, thats the only other thing it could be.

What worked for me was to hook my garden hose to the discharge side ( the smaller pipe) of the heater core with a hose clamp after cutting off the hose end, and on the intake side I clamped another piece of junk hose also without the a factory end and ran to a bucket. I started the water with low force and nothing happened, as I increased the pressure in the garden hose it started to spit dexcool in to the bucket and all it once it broke lose once the water started running clear I turned up the pressure and ran it for a few seconds to make sure it was clear, hooked the core back up to the engine hosed and it worked fine heat and all.

If everything else is ok in the motor ie thermostat, fan and such can be traced to either a plugged up heater core or air pocket. If you haven't opened your coolant system lately and your vehicle is at least 8-10 years old you may have a plugged up heater core. I have in the past unclogged them using lime-away by pouring it down your heater hoses after they have been unhooked from the motor. You should be warned though that about 1 out of ten of these will leak after you try this, but core was no good anyway so nothing lost. Just pour it in and let it soak for about a half hour and it will be clear. Stop leak can also plug your heater core.

Had the same problem. Found gm has a bulletin out for the problem. Its all above dextrin antifreeze and some of the part in the block donít get along LOL. Anyway you have to flush your system with prestone super flush and then your heater works great.
Good luck.
