It is no problem at all, I am no mechanic, just work on my own cars, change oil, things like that, but I have changed door pins and bushing before. I done a 84 vette and getting ready to do my 86 fiero today, drive the pins out like you would on a door in your house, this will release the door from the body, unhook the wireing first of course, then tap out the old bushings, they will be worn out and easy to remove, tap in new ones with a brass hammer preferalbley, then allign the door up and drive the new pins in, will take two people, makes it easier. Then dont forget to plug your wireing back in. Good Luck

Be sure on the Trck to use a second Person, and use a Bottle jack/floor jack to support the door while you drive out the pins. You will need a Door spring compression tool, availible at most automiootive tools supplies, (i got mine ay harbor Freight, but the instructions don't help.) Drive the Spring compressor on the spring with a 3lb sledge, from below the hinge, compress the spring then drive the pin out. the spring will prevent the pin from being removed unless it is already gone.

If you don't want to use a bottle jack, use a cherry picker. Roll down the window, use a soft strap wrapped around the door through the window opening, and take tension on the door. Once you have the load on the crane, you can drive the pins out, then wheel the door out of the way to take your time with the bushings. If you did not let the crane down, it should still be in the correct position to re-install the pins.

By the way, while you have the door off, it is the ideal time to pop your interior door panel and take care of any rattles in the latch mechanism, replace locks, and /or install speakers. You will need 8 or 9 new "fir trees" if you want to do this.

Does anyone know if they make a kit to replace the welded on door hinges on a 2001 S10 with new bolt on hinges? It's not just the pins on this one. The door swings all around till it hits the fender and both the body and doors sides of the hinges are completely shot. The holes where the pins go are ripped out. I need new hinges, but don't want to deal with the weld-ons when the junkyard will still charge me for a whole door. I need a bolt on hinge conversion kit if anyone makes one.
