2000 Monte Carlo SS Transmission Hesitates in 1st and into 3rd

I was having that common problem with my 2000 Monte SS where there is little power in 1st gear and felt like it was slipping into 3rd gear but not always. There was a damaged wire between the transmission and the computer. 2 hours labor and it is all better. Chevy also has a TSB for a wire under the battery tray causing this problem so it can be either.

Am having the same problem with my 2002 ss so did you get it fix??? could you give more info on that problem...some say its the pcs but now am really not sure!!! could you e mail me at [e-mail] Thanks!!! RENE

SOME ONE HAD TOLD ME TO JUST ADD LUCAS TRANNY
ADDITIVE AND AFTER ABOUT 300 MILES LATER THE PROBLEM
HAS GONE AWAY.... SO YOU SHOULD TRY THAT BEFORE SOME
TRANNY PLACE TRIES TO CONVINCE YOU TO GET A REBUILD ON IT!!!LIKE THEY DID TO SO NOW THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT'S BACK TO NORMAL!!! OK TRY IT

I'm having problems with my transmission too. It's been going on for 3 years but the 2 times I had them check it out, they never heard the noise that I would hear sometimes. But now my check engine light came on and I had some other minor problems, and they did a diagonostic check on it and they came up with the issues with the transmission. Shoud I try the Lucas Tranny Additive or does anyone else have any other suggestions? Thank you

I have a 02 MC SS and when it is hot and i speed up quickly it shakes and hesitates for a couple seconds then is fine. Also my ABS and traction control lights are on. heard this is a common problem.

i was having problems with my tranny on my 2000 monte carlo ss i was wondering if anyone else had the spider gears blow out the bottom of the tranny case

like said just added the lucas and i have not had any more tranny problems

EMPTY OUT ALL THE TRANSAXLE FLUID, HAVE A TRANSMISSION MECHANIC OR YOUR OWN MECHANIC FLUSH EVERYTHING, CHANGE FILTER AND ADD 7 LITRES OF "ROYAL PURPLE MAX ATF" AND YOU WILL HAVE NO MORE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS.

ANYONE HAVING TRANSMISSION TROUBLE, PLEASE GO TO YOUR NEAREST GM DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THE MECHANIC DO A BACK PRESSURE CHECK ON YOUR CATALYTIC CONVERTER, 98% OF THE TIME, THERE IS ABOUT 10 PSI OF BACK PRESSURE IN THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO SLIP BECAUSE LACK OF AIR FLOW. HAVE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED UNDER GM'S WARRANTY AND YOU WILL BE FINE, HOPE THIS HELPS EVERYONE.

my mc ss 2000 tranny is slamming into first. had it flushed and put lucas in it with a new fliter. it still slams into first. heard it could be the tork converter. had a tec look at it code came back problem with the long shift. 500.00 to get it fixed. dealer wanted 1300.00 for the tork converter and 3000.00 for a new tranny. don't ever go to the dealership.

In re. to the ABS and Trac lights on it is most likely the ABS sensor harness that needs replaced.Dorman supplies the parts through your local Auto Parts store (GM also has them for about 3X the price)it is usually NOT the sensor !!Best of luck....

My 2002 Monte Carlo SS is having similar problems.
I had the CATALYTIC CONVERTER replaced due to the GM defect back in 2006.
Now my check engine light comes on and the car bucks sporadically when accelerating and sometimes when idling. I also had the transmission fluid flushed & refilled in Feb.'09
Should I try the tranny flush again and add the Lucas Tranny Additive or ROYAL PURPLE MAX ATF? Any other suggestions anyone?

i have a 01 montecarlo the trannt chutters when going inot 2nd and know ive losst overdrive ive flushed the tranny and hve replaced the filter what should i do

The problem throws codes po742 Torque converter circuit stuck on..

I just have encountered this problem.
I searhed and search may online say its labor and parts intensive and that the Transmission needs to be separated from the block to fix. I cant verify that any any are true.

I have just swapped 6 out of 7 quarts. with a pan drop and added a good amount of Trans fix. And fresh high mileage trans fluid.

we will see how it goes about 300 miles later..

I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVING AT A LO RPM BETWEEN 15AND2000 RPM THE CAR WANTS TO PUTTER IF I AM DRIVING OVER THAT IT SEEMS NOT SO NOTICABLE DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGESTIONS?
