The car cranks but will not start. I thought the key was sticking as it auto-cranked for a few seconds when you release the key. It started 6+ months ago doing this and eventually would start. Now it will not. Any suggestions

Please let me know when you find the solution. I have a 2004 that does the same thing once in a while. Dealer cannot solve it.

If a car cranks but wont start, you need to know what it's missing.....fuel or spark. Unfortunately, cars are way too complicated now to just hold a spark plug wire looking for spark or peering down a carburetor looking for gas. At the very least, you would need an OBD2 diagnostic scanner. Otherwise you'll just be replacing random parts till you get lucky.

The fact that the car continues to crank is a normal condition. On this system, all you need to do is turn the key for a second, the car will continue to crank on its own ntil it starts. Since it wont start, it continues to crank.
To check why it in not starting, you will need to have the fuel pressure checked, and have it checked for spark.
