I'm thinking of trading my Lumina for a 2005 Malibu and was wondering if owners are satisfied with their Malibus?

The worst piece of s*%@* that came of the GMC. I got one on 12/2004. Nothing but problems. Nothing but the worst. Than again, was I expecting from a Chevy?

My 2005 Malibu is nicknamed "the turd". Many problems. The crackle sound coming from the dash area when the weather is cold. The wind noise coming from the rear doors. The paint started to chip off the rear driver panel. The power steering stops working on occasion. The damper squeaks when switching from defrost to feet. I gave up a Neon for this turd. Would take the Neon back in a second

I have about 23K now on my 2005 malibu. It's been great, NO problems at all. I have the base model with the 2.2L 4 cly. Average 30 MPG local diving, 35+MPG on a trip. Drives well, very cheap to run. We also have a Chevy HHR, it's great also. Love it very much.

I absolutely HATE my 05' Malibu LS. I've had the steering column replaced already (30k miles), and had problems with the brakes. The heat moans and groans, the exhaust ticks, and engine performance changes drastically based on weather conditions.(Cold weather= car sounds and performs like a tin lizzy) The car "coughs" half the time while starting. Did I mention I hate this car?

I just bought a 2006 Malibu and got robbed from the dealer, I paid like 40K for it!!! Man I should have bought a Ferrari for that price. So I am driving it down the road with only 10k miles on it and the entire Radiator explodes and starts peeing anti freeze all over. Chevy is the real Heartbeat of America OR TURD FOR THAT FACT

I really like my 2005 Malibu but do have one complaint, I have that "crackle sound" coming from the dash or windshield area too when it's cold. Anyone else? Anyone find a fix?

Amy - I have the same problems with my 05 Malibu and many others that you have not listed. Has the dealer been able to identify or fix the intermittent loss of power steering?

The noise was from the defrost area of the car. The service department found info about this problem and changed the foam in that area. It fixed it.

The service department replaced the steering column and that seems to have fixed the problem. It has been a week and I have not had any steering problems yet.

My wife and I bought twin Malibus (hers LS, mine over-optioned LT)Have had nothing but trouble from the start, sunroof not useable due to noise, dash crackle in the winter, starting when engine is warm, outside temp doesn't work, etc, etc. Today, BRAKE FLUID sensor comes on (had the car in 2 weeks ago for 20K check-up. Turns out I had a leaking caliper. While the dealer tries, they're at the mercy of GM. GM has stopped authorizing a rental when my car is in and the dealer has to pick up the charge. No more GM in our house.

I BOUGHT AN 2005 CHEVY MALIBU MAXX LAST YEAR AND I SERIOUSLY REGRET IT. WHEN WE FIRST GOT IT THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT A FEW TIMES (ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH!). THERE HAVE BEEN LITTLE PROBLEMS SINCE THEN. THE HACHBACK SENSOR TELLS US THAT THE HATCH IS OPEN WHEN IT'S NOT. THE CRACKLING NOISE WHEN IT'S COLD OUT THE SWITCH THAT CONTROLS THE POWER MIRRORS JUST FELL OUT ONE DAY. THE DRIVERS SIDE VISOR BROKE. ALL OF THESE I CAN LIVE WITH BUT NOW THE STEERING AND THE AIR BAG IS MESSED UP AND I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE IT. I IMAGINE THAT I'LL HAVE PLENTY OF MORE PROBLEMS FROM THE SOUND OF THINGS

Whatever you do, do not purchase this car. I purchased a 2005 and it is indeed a piece of shit. I hate it.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Aquarius

Keep calm and all will be well. You're feeling slightly fraught because there are so many demands on your time, and it won't help if you're trying to juggle some last-minute chores with some fun-filled social events. Get others to lend you a hand, or tell yourself that perfection is not an option right now and that you'll have to scale down your preparations accordingly.
