Found a work around for the 2005 Maxx rear wiper blade...
Trico 45205 wiper refill fits, but you will have to cut it to size, cost $8.

Remove the entire original wiper blade from the wiper arm by carefully sliding it out and replace it with the Trico refill. Ended up trimming it twice to get the full length of rubber to touch the glass.

I used a diagonal side cutter to trim it which requires ENORMOUS effort, it has two metal strips along the length of rubber wiper. Recommend wearing safety glasses as the end becomes a projectile. I'm sure there's a better way to trim it!

tell the chevy parts guy that you want the following chevrolet part: blade wsw 1039-2621. Cost approx $13.00. don't let them tell you that you have to buy the whole wiper arm ($50) as all they want to do is rip you off. the blade installs real easy and wipes just fine. no more cutting down weird blades from the parts places.

thanks, frank,
the parts guy started that old story about you have to buy the whole arm,
when he went to get the part # you gave me, he came back with the refill..$14.55 is much better than $55.

Thanks for the great information. No wonder GM is in bad shape, can't even make available replacement wipers for its vehicles .

Thanks for the info. I took the part number to the local Chevy dealer and got the insert for $14.

I just found out tonight that I couldn't get a replacement for the wiper blade at my local car shop...REALLY? A wiper blade? Factory only? REALLY? I echo Walter's comments...no wonder the car companies are in bad shape...

This is so stupid of them to do a dealer only for a Wiper Blade. What idiot thought of this.

Has anyone considered trying to research an alternative to the Rear Wiper Arm/blade problem? I was thinking that if another model of GM vehicle (or any other brand of vehicle that whose wiper arm's are engineered similarly) had a small enough wiper arm (13 to 15 inch) that could be modified/fit into the rear end of the Malibu Maxx, then we could go to the local auto parts store and purchase the traditional styled wiper replacements. Mine is the 05 model, just recently purchased. Anyway, I am working through/thinking out the problem. If I get a solution, I will quickly post it.

Solution Found!!! No aftermarket replacement blades available for 2005 Malibu Max rear unit; Checked everywhere. Solution is available at Pep Boy's Auto Parts/ www.prolinewipers.com . After removing the refill from old blade and taking detailed measurements, I purchased Proline Premium rear blade
Model# 14-1 350mm, PRV141 for $11.00. Just remove refill from new blade and insert it into existing blade on car. Fits Perfectly!! It took all of 30 seconds to change it out; no modification needed to anything.

While trying to remove the rear blade from my '06 maxx, I broke one of the little plastic supports and rendered the whole thing useless. I didn't want to spend $50.00 on a new arm just to have it break again the next time I had to futz with the refill. I tore the wiper blade support soff the arm and started looking for a j-hook arm that I could take a hacksaw to and bolt to the original arm. I couldn't ever get out to the salvage yard though. Then one day I started cleaning off my workbench and found the solution. I had been buying anco 14" wipers and disassembling them to get a refill blade, and in the box for the most recent purchase (which I hadn't yet demolished) was a perfectly sized j-hook adapter for a straight bayonet type arm. I used a rotary tool to cut off the eyelets on the upper arm and file away a little nub of plastic in the end of the arm. I then tacked the j hook adapter in place in the channel and put two holes through the arm and adapter with a drill press. I had some push pin anchors floating around that I used to lock the two parts together, and now I can use off the shelf wiper replacements. I found the refill at gmpartsdirect.com . Search for 10392621. They call it a front wiper, it is a 14" refill regardles. Listed for $4.64. Sadly, it was $12 in shipping so I bought two. Two hard to find wiper refils at my front door,$22. Works for me.
