This is kind of interesting ... OK, not really... but according to the "Dig a hole through the Earth" feature on Google Maps, a tunnel straight down from Calhoun and Washington would deposit Mr. Farrell somewhere 1,500 miles offshore of Australia in the Indian Ocean. Disaster was truly averted in Fort Wayne.
You are so cool. Give me a lesson on how to do this. I'm playing around with googlemaps.com and I can't find how to do it.

Recently two hapless drivers drove through a clearly marked road contruction area north of Milwaukee.
This was at night if that makes any difference but they drove into a large section of newly poured concrete and one car had to be pulled out. That driver is a judge so maybe he'll be able to get out of this mess, but the cost to fix this will be $30,000. I think many people have gotten used to driving through and around barriers so as not to be "inconvenienced"

If google map savviness is cool, I guess I'm Miles Davis. When you're on the google maps main page, click on the "My Maps" feature in the upper-left. You may or may not need to be registered, but you should see a link called "browse the directory." The "hole through the Earth" feature should be near the top. Otherwise it turns up easily in a search.

Good luck.

This does not surprise me at all. I don't know how many times I have watched people drive around construction areas and not pay any attention to what they are doing. I am sorry to say it but 80% of the accidents I have almost been in have been cause by an elderly person not paying attention. Just be glad it was a hole and not a construction worker.

At least his accelerator didn't stick and he drove into a crowd of people. At 61, he's maybe a bit young for that to happen.

I am in no way trying to justify this driver's brilliance. But anyone familiar with this project would get frustrated. The 2 block stretch of road involved is being widened and converted to 2-way traffic. In the 46 years that I have lived and worked in this wonderful city, this area has been: 2-way 3 times, 1-way 2 times, and "bus traffic only" once. The construction area was only supposed to be closed completely until 2 weeks ago. I drive by the area every workday and you never know what to expect. It changes daily among northbound, southbound, 2-way, or closed. And the 8 block drive around has 3 additional road projects in progress at varying times.

So it changes direction like a Clinton platform?

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Sagittarius

It's difficult to keep your mind on what you're doing today because it keeps wandering off in all directions. There won't be much you can do about this except to be aware of it, and preferably to postpone doing anything very complicated or important until you're less distracted and absent-minded. Unfortunately, you won't get very far with it at the moment.
