Chevy Impala Owners File Class Action Lawsuit Against GM

Full story: The Car Connection

Do you own a 2007 or 2008 Chevrolet Impala ? Have you gone through an alarmingly high number of rear tires since you've owned the car? If so, you may want to look into a class-action lawsuit filed against General Motors that alleges the automaker knowingly ignored problems with the rear suspension spindle rods on civilian versions of the Impala.

Why don't Chevy Impala owners also file a class action lawsuit against GM for the poorly designed rack and pinion steering units? The owners also need to file a class action suit against GM for the cracks in the welds on the front subframes too. I have a 2003 Impala, and have been through four rack and pinion steering gear units in 30,000 miles. Another Impala owner also told me he has been through four rack and pinion steering gear units in 70,000 miles. Numerous Impala owners also have been through front subframe replacements due to the faulty welds which cracked.

My 2005 Impala also is needing a new rack and pinion steering gear unit. My 2003 Impala has also had a front end subframe replacement under what GM calls "a customer satisfaction warranty" after the bumper to bumper 3/36,000 mile warranty ran out.

oh no not an American car no way. If you read the Detroit papers the little 4 autos are better than all others. Sales are climbing, up 45%, a V6 ecoboost that has the power of a V8....that means they are lying about something..either the V6 specs are bogus or the V8 is under powered....its probably both.....RIP little 4!!!!!!!!!!See ya, going for a fide in a dependable auto...Toyota!!!!!!!!!!1

My 2003 Impala is also going through tires. The last set of tires were supposed to be 50,000 mile tires. The tires have been rotated every 5,000 miles, and alignment checked. Each time the dealer has replaced the rack and pinion steering rack they have also had to align the wheels in the front. The last set of tires was supposed to last 50,000 miles. However, the tires are worn out after putting 29,000 miles on them with rotations every 5,000 miles.

This problem and class action lawsuit applies to later Impala cars for the rear tires. GM has had a problem way before the 2007 and 2008 model year.

The new GM is operating just like the old GM did after the bankruptcy and reorganization. I also own a FORD and have had absolutely no problems.

2003 Impala is breaking the bank for me. Yes i bought it used but come on it shouldnt break down every six months with the same issue. Had a tune up done last October and now the engine light is back on and it drives sluggish. I have had numerous times replace the sensors when they blew. Had to put in a new transmission, manifold gasket replaced and radiator fan replaced rocker bolts replaced rotors changed and much more. Im not putting any more money into this car. I love chevy but i feel that if there is a recall on any model Impala they should all be recalled in Im scared for my children and my self while driving this car now because it could stall out in the middle of rush hour traffic and be killed because of a defect that could have been prevented. Cars use to last longer when i was growing up what happen to product of safety.

I have an 02 chevy impala and I am catching the devil. I have had a lot of front end work done it and it is still not happy. I have had tire rods, cv axles and motor mounts replaced. Soon after they got done with that my steering system began to lock. Now I have to get a new rack and pinion. I don't make a lot of money so this is frustrating. My car is also running hot because I guess the fans went out and to top it off my gas gauge doesn't work either. Is GM assisting any?
