Chevy impala wipers not working

I just replaced what is called a " wiper motor pulse board " on my 2005 Impala. Had a few people tell me that this would fix my issue with the wipers staying in the up position when switched off. Nothing changed. I have gotten bad electrical parts out of the box before but from what I'm reading on here there may be other issues.

I just fixed mine! Take your time and look close! The tab was bent out of place. The piece that sits on top of the wiper motor HAS to contact that tab for the wipers to stop and park in the correct position. I found the answer on another result on ask .com. Thanks for the info!

I put a video up on youtube showing how to fix this problem. Realize I am not an auto mechanic but just like to save money. This is a fairly easy fix. But be careful to take your time so nothing breaks or parts get lost. I did this in March and it lasted 5 months now I have to do it again. I barely even bent the tab back and it lasted 5 months not bad!

Add my '02 to the list. Got a ticket for them being stuck in the up position as "faulty equiptment" so beware. you too can get a ticket for this. screw you, GM..do a recall and make it right

I have the same problem and they do have it fixed they say the wiper does not know where to park. All that was needed is to pop all the covers off so that you can slightly bend in your wiper arm of the driver side there is nothing actually wrong with the motors itself I'm on here trying to figure out how to do it myself this time.

i have a 2001 chevy impala that wipers stay in the upright position or they don't park they stay midaway in the windssheid.i took it tothe gm dealer witch day are a bunch of crooks and they told me it was the wiper transmission went bad so i had to pay $80 for it plus $130 dollars labor.wipers work only for six months and it happen again took it back to them and this time they tried to tell me it was my wiper motor and they wanted to charge me $773 dollars i said fk no. and they only charge me $68 dollars to diagnose the problem.and thats not to mention the other parts i put in 2times a water pump 2 racket pinions motor mounts the bcm computer i've spend more than$3500 dollars in this car within one year.the car has 141,644 miles.the bottom line is gm makes garbage cars.from 2000 to 2012 impalas their garbage.they should take those cars and have the monster trucks with the big tires and line up those chevy impalas and crush them.i'll never buy a gm car again i'll buy toyota or honda instead fuk gm and their shity cars.shame on them.

Lots of GMs from the 90's and 00's have this problem but only a few have been recalled.
Reason: you didn't file a complaint.
Solution: go to www.nhtsa.gov and file a complaint. You'll need your VIN, make, model, year, etc. Do it, it's easy.

I also have a 2002 Impala that the wipers do not park correctly. My problems lies in what is called the park tab. There is a lever that is on the bottom of what everyone is calling the transmission underneth the driver side wiper. When the wipers are on the lever spins around with the transmission and hits against the park tab. When you turn the wipers off, the lever is suppose to rest against the park tab and the wipers go down in the park position below the hood. Well as you can imagine the tab gets worn because it is made out of aluminum. I bent the tab back into place one time and it work for over a year. Now it has worn more and there is not enough left to bend, so my wipers are again sticking up on the windshield. Of course the dealer wants to replace the transmission, but if the park tab is not replaced as well then the problem with the wipers not going to the parked position will still be an issue.
I am the master tech at a kia shop, one of my techs had a 2005 impala with the same issue, he messed with it repeatedly and could not get it to operate correctly. Not working on GM's I typed "2005 chevy impala wiper reset" and found this thread. Your information worked brilliantly. Kudos to you.

2003 impala has same problem. I fix it but everytime it snows I have to clean them real good before using them. Really hard to do considering they tuck under the hood.

Okey I replaced the transmission, and now it works except if I go to intermittant the wiper sticks in the up position, is it in my motor or did I not time the wipers right?
just fixed mine the other day. Had ice built up and thought it was snow. I actually had a wire melt on the circuit board. Soldered the wire and put it all together and they were working fine. Was driving a couple of days later and some ice was built up on the driver side wiper. I reached out my window and grabbed it on the up stroke and quickly let go to pop the ice off. Well they quit working. Came home and took the transmission off the motor and it started working again. Put it all back together just as I had done before and now they park right but in intermitent they stop at the top of their swipe. They cycle fine but each top stop up top.UHHH!!

ok just went out and turned them on int. and let them cycle. When they were at what should be the bottom of their cycle or where they sit until next cycle I turned the ignition off. Took the screw off that holds the transmission cam on the motor shaft and lifted the cam. Moved wiper arms to where they should be at the bottom of their stroke.( just up a little from the extrem bottom of where the arms can go as to leave room for them to drop to park. Placed cam/transmission back on motor shaft and tightened screw. They work in all settings now but are just a tad high at rest in int. when at the bottom of their stroke. Not too bad though. I could probably tweek them to get them closer but i'm good with where they are. Hope this helps.
This design definatley sucks. All of this to get wipers that drop down out of the way when not in use. Not worth the headaches in my opinion.
