The SS/HHR is a blast to the past. It was a dream come true at first, the awesome power of the 2.0 turbo. After owning a 5 speed for 3 weeks I'm dreading my first trip to the service dept. for inoperative power windows! They worked when I took delivery and not since. This has been a major inconvience because I can't go thru a drive thru at the bank, ATM, fastfood, etc. Now it's getting warmer and I need to be able to open my windows. I just couldn't bring myself to give it up for several days in the shop. My suspicions were correct, no satisfaction after the first trip to a large metro chevy service department. But, Mr. Goodwrench caused two more problems in the process of trying to diagnose the original problem. Damage to the trim surrounding the master power window switch on the driver's door. The right front lower console bracket now vibrates like a ringing bell at the slightest bump in the road or acceleration. Located near the fuse block is the point of connection to main power harness. This should be routine for a service tech, there is no reason to ruin the integrity of orginal installation. Very frustrating to say the least, a new vehicle shouldn't be at the dealer for repairs! I'm was a GM employee and I did this type of repair in the factory for almost two decades. This type of shoddy repair isn't acceptable, GM indeed had better demand customers expect more. I'm more understandind than most, i've owned about 4 dozen GM cars during my tenure with GM. At 49, this has truly ruined my desire to trade every year. I doubt too many Mexican's that build the HHR at Ramos can afford to buy the product they build. The 26 year old OKC plant was closed two years ago and always outperformed a majority of other GM factories, including Ramos, yet they chose to close a top quality plant in OKC. Go figure? I'm loyal to GM, but this type of defects on a new car are intolerable. No wonder GM is losing market share in the U.S.A. The products have style and features, but reliability? Calling 911, Bob Lutz are you paying attention? I hope this is not indicative of most trips to the dealer for repairs, but then again I shouldn't be at the dealer for problems in the first place. Consumers deserve more satisfaction, it's embarassing to tell friends my windows don't even work and the dealer isn't sure what to do to fix it. So much for referals, I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. The worst part is I still have to return for another attempt to fix the power windows.
