So now the well being of Spring Hill and Middle Tennessee is no longer in the hands of the UAW and GM...Now we have to deal with desires of the Canadian Auto Workers? What the hell is this world coming to?

i understand you guys want the jobs, but i am a canadian and happen to be employed assembling the front cradle for these vehicles and no offense to any of you, but i dont want you to take my job. I hope you get work, and i hope you all will benefit from gm opening your plant back up for production, as long as i still have my job. I got a wife and kid to support just like many of you do.

what is this world coming to??? you dont know already do you. well it works like this. globalization means that companies like GM or McDonalds will buy theyre products at the cheapest price which means from countries where people makes less than 10 bucks an hour. our governments (your u.s and my canada) try to offset this, though they let it happen in the first place happily, by investing billions in 'incentives' for these companies to do business here rather than just moving the entire u.s company right out of north america and just selling to north americans. these companies than take what they learned overseas and apply it here contracting work to the lowest bidder. I work for THE company that delivers parts by the minute to the oshawa line, they got this contract because they underbid the last company, those laborers made 20 an hour, we make 14 but we're happy to be employed. soon enough gm will want to shed more cost and again auction off its labor to the highest bidder, talk of tennessee now tells me what i already know/ tennessee is in wprse shape than ontario so they'll settle for 10 dollar an hour labor happily, thats why this news story is telling us gm is visiting tennessee and offering jobs it already is paying people for somewhere else only for cheaper now. GLOBALIZATION its whats not in the news.

GM will do as it has always done...whatever it wants to do.
There is no regard for families or community whatsoever. If they can save 2 cents per vehicle making a move or a decision on a part, source, plant location etc. then that is what they will do. Even if it makes no sense or destroys lives.
$$$ rules their decisions.

It's a fact of life working for GM, feast or famine from a heartless corporation.
Which in their management meetings the line workers are referred to as "Soft Tools" break one just get another.

Expect nothing from a corporation that doesn't provide them with a cost savings.
Canada, USA, Mexico means nothing to them.
I hope the Tennessee plant opens and locals get good work and good wages and also benefits the community.
I hope the Oshawa plant the same, but my wishes or any one elses don't mean squat with GM.
