I have a 2010 Equinox and I am experiencing similar issues. Only the drivers side blows cold air the passenger side blows warm air and occasionally will blow cooler air but never as cool as the driver side. I also experienced a vapor blowing in through the vents. I turned it off and then back on and it didn't do it again. I have an appointment next week to have it looked at. Tempted to trade the car in after hearing all these issues.

One more thought...Has anyone contacted GM about this? The only thing I have done is write in the comments they want after servicing your vehicle that I am not satisfied with the AC. They need to figure this out and have a recall on these vehicles. Sounds like there is something wrong with the AC in all of the Equinox's.
- The car runs great its a good buy my mom has 2005 less than 40k but the a\c problem needs to be corrected to have so many people with the same vehicle have the same problems, seems to me it is a manufacture problem and should be recalled and find some sort of sulotion. We cannot afford to keep spending money on a problem that might not even have a solution!!!!!

My 06 equinox is having the same problems. I do hvac service work on houses. the ac will freeze up after about 15 minutes of driving. The suction line will be froze up all the way to the evaporator coil. It will freeze up and the air will not blow inside the car bc coil is frozen up. turn it off for about 10 minutes it thaws out. turn it back on it does it again. I had the refrigerant evacuated and pulled a vacuum and recharge the system to make sure the system was not overcharged or had any non-condensable in it. that was not the fix. So these compressors are supposed to cycle off and on. a little different then house ac units. My compressor is not cycling off. SO as an ac repair guy that means it is going to freeze up eventually. So I started do some more research and that cars have a evaporator temperature sensor. I have never worked on car ac system before as they take different kind of tools to repair them. But, I still have the concept on how every thing is supposed to function correctly. I found this website below to try to help other people. I have not replaced this sensor yet as I just started experiencing this problem. But, this sounds like this is my problem. I bought this car used about 3 years ago and I don't know if it has been reprogrammed or not. I think I will try to replace this $30 sensor before I pay the dealership. hope this helps.

I've posted this several times over the past several years - but will repost again in hopes that it helps someone.

Okay - so I've posted on here for the past couple of years regarding the AC issues I'm having with my '06 Equinox. I finally broke down and took it back to the dealer yesterday as I just can't go another Florida summer with intermittent air. I think a really good AC guy finally found the problem. Here is what my service invoice reads:
"PCM losing AC request from BCM. Determined evaporator temperature sensor voltage very erratic, causing BCM to turn off AC request to PCM. Replaced AC evaporator temperature sensor and checked operations. Continuous request for AC at PCM and AC is blowing."
MY AC IS NOW BLOWING COLD AIR CONSISTENTLY! The part was $43.00 - labor $90.00. I'm hoping this fixes the problem for good and there are no other issues.
Hope this helps those of you out there that are having AC issues as well.

I have an '05 Equinox and have not had an issue so far in the past year that I have had my car up until a couple of days ago. My a/c suddenly stopped blowing cold (even semi-cool) air. My clutches are not even kicking in. I bought a can of Freon, even though I knew it wasn't going to work just to see if it would take it. We have tried to run a hot wire just to get the clutches to kick on, but no good so far. Just wondering if anyone else has had the problems with the cluthes not coming on?? Needing suggestions or idea. I am in nursing school right now & have 2 little girls and just do not have the money to throw out there on random ideas. Thought I would check out some other opinions before I spend anything. Thanks!!

I found this forum about 1 1/2 months ago. We bought a GM Certified Used 2008 Equinox with a 1 year/12000 mile warranty. After only owning it for a month, we started having problems with the a/c. We took it back to the dealer 3 times and it was still never fixed right. We then took it to another Chevy dealer, since this fell under our warranty, and found out the compressor was bad. We got it back last week and it still wasn't quite right. I was going through this again last night and found one of the comments about the cabin air filter. My husband bought one today for $16 and it took all of 10 minutes to install. My air is working great now!! My husband is a mechanic, but since the compressor was warranty work and it was covered, he wasn't going to work on it. I asked him how often is that filter supposed to be replaced adn he said usually once a year. The one he took out was the original filter and it was disgusting!! I am going to give it a couple days to see if the air keeps working right. If it does, great! If not, back to the shop it goes.

Yes, I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox,I bought it in 2007 , I had all of my problems happen to me after my extended warranty ended. Every thing from breaks 2005 needing repair,2010 key ignition locking up,2012 blown head gaskets with a repair bill of $3,500.00,Cd player stop working in 2010,2011 ac diagnose and service check for leaks non found and they put freon in the vehicle it got cool for a little while,2013 96,000 miles over heated just recently replace two hoses, and I was told that their was no blocks in my radiator. Now my Equinox has this funny over heat smell. My AC still blowing hot air. My heater works find bill $398.00. But I still think something is wrong. In last past 6 years over $5,000.00 in repairs.I was told compressor is good but I may need an ac pump. I think somehow my vehicle is not recognizing cold from the hot once the ac is on. Now I just want to say my worst second investment with six months left to pay on this vehicle. I'm accepting all comments and donations at this time. This is my story Got to love Chevy. Do they really stand behind their products, or is it just about the money. PS going to call the 1 - 800 number and talk with someone as well or maybe even join a class action law suit against GM/CHEVY !

I have a 2010 equinox that when starting, the air conditioning comes on automaticly. i have to push the knob to turn it off every time. so far its just annoying but with the colder air temps it defeats the purpose of having a remote started and having the heater on to warm the inside. does anyone have the same problem and if so is there a simple fix ? nothing in the manual as to why this is happening...

Reading through here I see A/C problems from the beginning of Equinox life time. I had a 2005 brand new ordered it and had A/C problems after 3-4 years replaced and worked fine. I handed that 2005 down to my son to get a 2010 Equinox after about 1 1/2 years had a crack in the compressor had it replaced last year now had it checked while having the oil recall sorted out to find out I have a hole in the compressor, ANOTHER ONE!!!!$1200 to get it fixed at dealer which it was $600+ last year, I'm sure inflation isn't $600+ for the part which I'll look elsewhere but was wondering if this is a flaw with the compressor for Equinox period. From what I"m reading here it very well may be. I really don't have $600+ to spend every year to get the compressor replaced. I do love the Equinox but as others mentioned may need to look for a new car love since I do not want to spend an over excessive amount getting it fixed every year.
