Oh God, I bought an 05 equinox and on day 2 the check engine light came on and it started to overheat. The dealership can't get me in for 3 weeks. I'm PISSED already and to see so many others with so many similar issues.....I'm guess I'm in for one huh?

I had heard they were a great product, however after owning one not so much my suggestion to this country stop shipping jobs overseas to other countries which are sweatshops and do your job in house. You will pay less doing the job right the first time, not paying the lawsuits when your vehicle causes an accident J/S. Keep jobs American or who can afford your cars.

I like my 2005 Equinox too! I have had a few minor stuff to deal with but I bought it used with 29,900 miles on it. With ANY car you are going to have some issues at some time or another. After all, these are machines and they need maintenance and repairs. If you don't like the car get rid of it and buy another. Guarantee you will have issues with it too! This isn't a belly aching website it is intended to be a place where if you should have an issue you maybe able to get some feedback on how to rectify it. Not a website for bitching and complaining. Sorry but that's how I feel!
People are trying to figure out their issues. But good people like you only have money to spend on fixing constant issues when broke people try to buy something reliable and get screwed by a company. I myself spent lots of money on my shit 06 Equinox and keep spending it because I have no other choices. But when its a constant thing it really sucks. SO VENT AWAY PEOPLE AND ENJOY THE GM CRAP WE SEEM TO BY. RECALL AWAY GM

I bought a 2008 Equinox from a dealer in 2/2009 and the a/c went out at 55,000mile" bulletin #08278 condenser shield can rub against the a/c tubes. causing leakor loss of a/c function... on top of misfires this company really need to re think how they are doing business Called and they said I would have to wait for a corrective action from the dealership. Really!? I'm not holding my breath. This vehicle has been nothing but disappointing. and the customer service need I say more. If they make it right I will be right here singing their praises. I am a chevy diehard ........it must be time to move on ....

Were you able to figure out what is wrong. Ours does the same thing and has been in the shop several times but they are not able to find anything wrong. Battery cables were loose and they tightened them hoping it would fix the problem but on the way home the lights came on again. If you found out what causes this, I would greatly appreciate a reply.

I have an 05 Equinox and it rattles and clunks for last 4 years. I had numerous mechanics check the car and only the last one, after replacing the front breaks that went bad (major rattling and shaking) in less than a year after they did the job, came with another "proposal" to replace complete front mounts(bearings, springs, the whole thing...) for about $1400...?!?

Car is otherwise in a great condition :-).

I am not sure what to do since I am experiencing major issues with the front wheels - it seems the wheels are doing their own thing and it is difficult to steer...

Have a 06 Torrent and just had the exact same problem. The old EGR tube broke and the check engine light did not come on, which it should have. GM obviously knew this, hence the reason for the "kit". Autozone sells for just a bit under $300. Its only a few bolts and some fairly simple wiring.
There should be a recall on this. Contacted GM and they don't seem to care at Customer Care. For a 32k dollar car its my last one too. Where is a lawyer around when you need it. Someone help us!
I have the same problem went to replace the tube 42.00 only to find out it's an inch to short and you can't buy the OE tube you have to buy the EGR kit 350.00 this sucks a 15 min short money job just turned into a costly repair thanks GM engineers last one I buy.

Maybe it's not the car that is the problem. Head a headlamp go out on my wife's Equinox and took about 20 minutes and that was in a dimly lit garage where I couldn't see what I was doing very well. Other than the PCM issue her's has been great for the past 50,000 miles.
Other than PCM issues.?.?.? Are you serious!!!! The car sucks!!!

You probably got a lemon. Most of the people who come to the internet to post their problems are the very few who get lemons. The other 99% are happy and have no reason to post.
By the way, the 3400 V6 is not a "crappy" engine. It is time-tested and is warranted for 100,000 miles. This is from the same 60* V6 family that had motors frequently surpassing 250k miles with no major work.
As far as "the engine sounding like it will blow up" you are wrong. This is an OHV Pushrod engine, just like the engine in the Corvettes. That is how it sounds, the distinct roar of an OHV motor. Pushrod engines return better fuel economy and higher torque numbers than comparable OHC/DOHC engines. You can't complain about the acceleration either, as 0-60 in 8 seconds is pretty damned good for a SUV at this price range.
Get your problems fixed and get a different vehicle. Getting angry and losing focus won't solve your problems.
I bought Two 2005 equinox what is the odds they would both be lemons. I would think not likely. However both have had the same problems as every one else on this site. Its like one follows right behind the other with the same problem. I have done wheel bearing and sencors all the way around on both cars, head gaskets on both, window motors, EGR tubs, wheels ware fast do to not holding an alignment, a/c issues, smells out of the vents, creeking noise from front end, thumping noise from rear,( after I turn it off and it sits a min), starting issue, at an idle it wants to rev the engine until it gets so out of control that it stall out. Keys pull out of ignition at any time when they should be locked in when running, front drive shaft universals replaced, One equinos is AWD and the other is 2WD both have had all these problems however the AWD one had a drive shat bushing go bad.

So I must have just bought two lemons ???

How ever I will say I have enjoyed driving these vehicle especially the all wheel drive is amazing in the winter. However no car should have this many issurs . Its 2014 and I have 130,000 on the AWD & 90,000 on the 2WD

I truly love the car but if my marriage had this many problems I would be divorced.

Having thoughts about buying something foreign

What was the remedy or is the trunk still leaking? As an on-going headache the trunk wheel well fills with water and it needs to be emptied. This usually occurs when it rains as a minimum. We purposely left the Equinox in the driveway, did not drive it at all and it rained for the better of a day. The next day opened up the trunk and the water had returned. I requested the dealer provide a suggestion and his response was to check the seal around the back-up lights, so I will. Can't be any worse than sitting in the trunk area watching for a flow of water while someone hoses down the car.
The seals go on vehicles regularly. The only way to help prevent this is to use a spray silicone lubricant form silicone this will keep the foam gasket supple enough.

Drill some holes through the spare tire compartment and lube ur trunk gaskets minimum once every month. It must be good quality do not use armor all or car shine products your gaskets will decay faster.

I bought a 2006 Chevy Equinox brand new in 2006 and my wife has been complaining about the car starting. Ignoring her as a typical guy does. The car failed to start on me recently and searched Google and realized all the postings with the same problem. Called the dealer, the service guy was stupid, did not feel like doing his job, no wonder why all the jobs are being sent over seas. Called Chevy and they said that they could not give me information and that I have to pay out of pocket to have the car diagonsed when I told them that it's all over the internet and that this is their problem. The guy was as worthless as 2 tits on a bull. Last time I'm buying an American piece of shit. And people don't know why jobs are going bye, bye.
Preach on brother! These are a piece of shit! Most GM vehicles are! I am a mechanic and I would be out of business if it wasnt for 200 and up Gm vehicles, especially this one, the malibu and the 07 and up tahoe, suburban, etc!

Sounds like that guy who is raving about the vehicle is a PAID GM REP brought in to damage control the internet customer who are rightly disatisfied with their purchase! The problem is part GM and part Delphi Automotive Industries. This is the company GM contracted in to design and manufature the electronics and modules. Unfortunately for all consumers who purchased these GM models, Delphi used "cheap solder" inside of the PCM, BCM and other control boards and the solder breaks randomly on different parts of the board creating inconsistant data and making it difficult to trouble shoot and or diagnose the vehicle issues! Either way, by 2008 as we all know instead of owning up to the issues and failures and taking care of the customer, GM went to the Obama administration and begged for a "bail out!" They filed bankruptcy and used American jobs as the excuse for the bail out! Now we should call General motors "GOVERNMENT MOTORS" instead. Ironically both parties are corrupt and the American people paid GM twice! Buy a Ford, Nissan or Honda! Let Generic Motors drown in their own vomit. Customers hate me due to these faulty vehicles as if I designed and manufactured them myself! Its a joke, I cant even provide a warranty to these customers due to the fact that the issues typically re occur once the new boards/circuits/computers/wiri ng/grounds fail again. Its a matter of time, there is no permanant fix and GM and the dealerships know it! Thats why the dealerships are charging all of you instead of doing warranty work because they know they would go out of business because the manufacturer wont even back the dealership on any of these flaws either. The dealerships are dishonest to avoid $ lost profits and to gain profit on top of it! Its a flipping travesty if you ask me!
